HELP. NO VIDEO ON BRAND NO PC BUILD.
Ok, so I built my machine and tried hooking up a vga cable and turning it on for the first time. No luck. Just says "No signal".

Re: HELP. NO VIDEO ON BRAND NO PC BUILD.
Any more info on your setup? GPU, etc.? That's really as vague as it gets. If you're on a LCD you shouldn't even be using VGA, unless that's all that your monitor offers...
If it's a discrete GPU with 6-pin power connector, you might have forgotten to hook that up.

Mehguy, you've got to join a different forum for your PC troubles dude. There are a few people here that are knowledgeable, but there are better places to find help. I recommend Hardforum or Tom's Hardware.

Re: HELP. NO VIDEO ON BRAND NO PC BUILD.
Have you connected both motherboard and cpu power cable?
Also if you have a Pc speaker cable, connect it. You definitely should be getting a beep code if you boot without ram.
Disconnect everything that is optional and try again.

So some common things to check before questioning if the motherboard is the problem:
Otherwise it's going to be your motherboard. What motherboard do you have?*Is the VGA cable operational? Switch to a different VGA cable.
*Is the monitor operational? Switch to a different monitor
*Got a compatible GPU you can borrow? See if video passes through it.

Yes the monitor and VGA cable are working. I don't have an extra gpu.

It has DVI and HDMI ports, why not hook up your monitor(s) to them?mehguy wrote:Gigabyte f2a88x-d3hbeatsgo wrote:So some common things to check before questioning if the motherboard is the problem:

I tried HDMI... no luck. I'm rather foreign to DVI so I don't have a connector for that.
Might I add, I had to force down the cpu a little bit because it wouldn't just "drop in" into the socket.

I would check those CPU pins. If one/few of them are misaligned, you'll have to realign them with small pliers and a credit card. But if one of those are broken, you're SOL and need to replace that CPU.

A CPU should drop right into the socket... one corner is keyed on both the socket and the CPU, are you sure that you aligned that correctly...?

Re: HELP. NO VIDEO ON BRAND NO PC BUILD.
Well.... it turned out that when I forced it in... It bent a pin.
I ALIGNED the arrow on the cpu with the one on the mobo... but it still bent for some odd reason.
I tried bending it back, but ending up bending and breaking even more pins.

You can fix pins with a credit card and a lot of patience. But it might be easier to just buy a new CPU and sell the old one as junk on eBay.

If you've broken pins when trying to insert the CPU, I'd also be worried about electrostatic discharge related damages. You have to be careful!

Well I made sure that aligned the arrow with the on the mobo. Maybe a defect?
I also made sure I was discharged as I touched the case through out the build.

Re: HELP. NO VIDEO ON BRAND NO PC BUILD.
Yah, you'll definitely have to replace the CPU. Before you break more pins, determine which pin is bent and check the hole the pin is entering on the CPU socket. There could be junk stuck in there that's preventing it from easily going in.
Also, you're using an AM2+ mobo: be sure you're only using AM2+ compatible CPUs

Well I dont know which pin it is since I broke a lot more pins when trying to bend back the one pin.
