I can host a mumble server - depends how many people would be online at once really. Sounds like a nice idea.

Mumble would work well for this I think, I use it quite a bit with my guild for FFXIV, of course for in game stuff, but mostly to just check in and bs around or play other games with each other. Seems like a good platform for a casual social area.

If this became a thing I'd participate.

If I'm not streaming, I chat with friends on XBL or Skype while I play STGs. One of them will actually play Futari sometimes and ask for advice and such if I'm playing an STG too (he's getting close to clearing BL Original; it will be his first 1CC if he can do it); it can be really fun to kind of talk through the game with someone else.

And yes, there was at one point STG Weekly Radio... we have some interest in bringing it back, actually. One of many things we're thinking about at the moment. We still also want to hold monthly/bimonthly podcast episodes since those have been well received so far.

There was Radio Bydo, and another after that I forget the name of. Both were auto feeding streams, rather than presented radio shows, but I used to enjoy Bydo while I worked. I'm sure that's dead now.

Is there a regular audio-only shmup podcast? I'd love to listen to/get involved with that.

New Years Eve went really amazingly when it came to Mumble voice chat. Early on, lively discussion with Frenetic, beatsgo, z0mbie90, mnneurope, then middle hit a lull as Frenetic went AFK and everyone else muted (mic settings for me also screwed up around this point), then Captain joined, we had a lengthly text convo, Aquas came on, discussion started heating up again, Captain tried to start doing Twitch streams for Hellsinker and RefleX, I finally got my mic working, shocked everyone, good times were had by all.

If any of this sounds appealing to you in any way, then please, come on. There may not be people talking at the time but that's what idling and scheduled events are for...

Anyone up for a Saturday meet up?

Works pretty good for voice chatting during streams too. You can join a separate room so the streamer(s) can turn off push-to-talk.
