Lots of spaces where people gather on the internet are becoming more and more like an infinite garbage dump. People have become accustomed to dumping their troubles and other trash into the cyber-sea.

I wonder if diaries still exist?

GTA V has been banned from Target in Australia.

The reason given is because the GTA series is a game about going on murderous vehicular rampages through densely populated cities and fears that gamers will copy the actions as they play out in the game...

JUST KIDDING! The reason is because while you're going on your killing spree, the car radio may play some fake talk radio that makes jokes at women's expense.

Do you SEE what I meant about neutrality not being an option in a censorship debate?

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

So this week, gamers want Hatred banned for being too mindlessly violent.
Last week we were protesting GTA5 being banned for being too mindlessly violent.

I... don't get it?

What do people here think about that situation?

Hatred? Never heard of it. If it's an obscure indie game, then that's why.

Popular AAA games can get away with literally anything.

People are fucking stupid, especially on the internet.

SJWs tried to banned Hatred with the accuse that some of the developers are neo-nazi. And according to SJWs, by supporting a game made by neo-nazi is like supporting neo-nazism. More details and laugh here:

Well, it went mainstream, of course.

Well, I guess that answers this question. I liked Heroes, but is the last Sonic game worth a shit (other than the GBA ones) still SA2?

The trailer to "Hatred" is really shocking, especially if you live in America. It's a bit too close to home.

They say there is no connection to video games, and real violence...but the game seems in bad taste and irresponsible, and is....I dunno, it just really puts me off.
I guess it's how some feel about RapeLay. Yeah, you might not rape someone 'cause you played it, but it pisses a lot of people off.

People get killed all the time in games, but "Hatred" mirrors real life shootings a bit much. It's not for me.

But I have had friends killed by random acts of violence (not mass shootings), so I just have a bad reaction to it.

It's up to the public to decide if it's on Steam or not. I'm not for censorship, but I am for people democratically voting something like this off of Steam

On the upside, I could see some people really letting out some frustrations with the game.

As opposed to all the games where you mow down endless hordes of brown skinned terrorists or the ones where a big chunk of the game revolves around committing criminal acts and murdering rivals? People are offended because Hatred strips away the bullshit excuses contrived by developers to make people feel like the acts of brutality they are committing are justified. Killing random strangers is wrong, but cops and soldiers violating rights, summarily executing people, beating suspects is a ok cause fuck criminals. War games always present an us vs them but real life isn't like that. Innocent people get killed, kids are indoctrinated and forced in to military service, and sometimes there are no good guys. I think that shit is way more subversive than a straight forward murder simulator is.

As an aside, I read a piece on Engadget about Hatred that quoted one of the guys from People Can Fly. According to the dev, the contrived excuses are good and necessary. But one of the games mentioned, Gears Judgment, has you killings hundreds upon hundreds of enemies who, if you've played the preivous games in the series, are only attacking because the fucking humans you control are destroying their home in the interior of the planet. But it's cool cause they're not human and who cares why they're fighting when you can turn your enemies in to bloody chunks.

it's not the people who play them, it's the people who obsess about the sonic universe, its characters, and the story lines. post genesis sonic games are like pornos, if you're paying attention to the story then you're doing it wrong.

generations, it's like an upgraded sa2 with only sonic levels (ie just the good parts)

My stance on Hatred is this:

I don't think it should be banned, from Steam or anywhere else. You can't ban free expression because some nutjob somewhere might get set off by it. You take that route and you'd have to ban everything.

That being said I think the game sounds disgusting and I personally want nothing to do with it.

I think all 'be the criminal!' games should be banned but that's because I have all the care of a tyrannical supervillain when it comes to 'freedom'. People do stupid crap with their freedoms & that's how we get 'art' like Hatred. I bet it's a real modern masterpiece the world would be a lesser place without . Maybe if we censored more the quality of media in general would rise back to the levels it was in at least the eighties, when there were still a few lines drawn in the sand. Maybe then I could find a good TV show to watch that doesn't cop out & center everything around sex in some sort of way. I'm saying this as a fan & owner of the GTA series - if it meant not having to be annoyed by shock jockey bullshit anymore you can take my Mortal Kombats & Dooms & GTAs away. I'll be fine without them.

My opinion of Hatred is dependent on how the scoring system turns out. Are kids worth more or less? Fetuses aren't people but I think pregnant women should be worth 1.5x as much as a normal woman. Is there chaining involved? I just hope they don't go with an Ikaruga style color system. Something more like Bakraid would be good, with fat people and the handicapped taking the place of big ships and turrets.
