I believe the mini can take a 420p signal over it's RGB port. You'd need a customized Scart cable or a VGA box/Sync Combiner however info

Thanks for responding again guys.

I have actually ordered a toro VGA box for the DC, which if I understand correctly should allow RGB/480p over scart .

I will probably do as you suggested and try to get scart cables for the other devices too, but I am having real trouble finding a GOOD scart switch available to ship internationally.
Is scart going to be better than component for those devices that offer it? (wii, ps2. both can do 480p on component which i would have thought to be superior)
If i go this route, I imagine ill want to get a ps1 with scart and a ps2 with component (instead of using the ps2 for ps1 games as intended)

I also think I may get a Super Retro Trio. I think its S-video out should do pretty well via the xrgb?
The fact it doesn't emulate like the retron 5 is also a big plus.

this is all very difficult, but I think im starting to see where things will end up.

XRGB is emulating a CRT. The whole point of spending a fortune on this hobby is to avoid emulation. Buy a CRT if you want to play your games on a CRT. Otherwise take advantage of the positive qualities of your HDTV and mitigate the disadvantages. CRT too small? Want to play your games on a larger screen with the CRT experience? Sit closer to an actual CRT.

I can take pictures of my setup. It looks good. RGB 240p from my Saturn and SFC. 480i and 480p from my PS2/PS games. 640x480 from my Dreamcast with VGA. Modern consoles w/ 720 and 1080 i/p. If you think it looks shite go right ahead as your opinion is as good as mine. Nice set, 5ms on the display itself + whatever the consoles add by its various connection types and software. I could easily get a PVM/BVM but it isn't worth the effort. I am positive it would spend the remainder of its life in my attic while I blast the crap out of my panel display.

Even if you disregard everything above the imposition of 20ms input lag with the XRGB mini destroys the experience, at least for me. I can detect small differences of input lag easily.

I'm not sure what you're saying.
Xrgb isn't an emulator, it's a scaler. A better one than is in your TV.
Anyway, you are not contributing to this topic at all. So thanks for your opinion, but it isn't helpful.

Finding a good scart switch is pretty tough, best bet would be either following forums or go ebay.

Only the PAL wii can output RGB, though it seems that component is a better of the two options.

You don't really need a PS1, since PS2 can output both RGB and component (change it through the settings menu). PS1 games games will look best over RGB with a scart cable and PS2 games best with component.

I think most people would recommend staying away from the all-in-one 3rd party consoles, they're just not built with the same quality as the originals. The S-video is the "best" option on those things and it tends to be pretty poor.
I'd recommend buying each individual when you have the spare cash and build up a library. They'll output better S-video for right now, and you'll always have the option of upgrading to RGB later on.

The Toro should be capable of that, you are correct. I was just looking at those yesterday.

I would stick with component for Wii for sure. It is capable of 480p, while the RGB SCART is not for the Wii (not exactly sure about PS2-- fellow member 22point8 has gotten at least one game to work over it at 480p). Most PS2 games are not 480p compatible though, so if you want to play PS1 games with scanlines, you can use SCART from the PS2 to your Framemeister.

PS2 does look great through component as it is though. It will enable 240p mode for all PS1 games that use it, but some say component is iffy through the Framemeister.

So many options, I know. Please post some pics of the output you get with the Framemeister, especially with the 480i/p stuff.

The main reason I wanted to go with the retron trio is as a space saver. Money isn't a big issue (although I don't like wasting it), but I live in a small apartment so don't have an abundance of space. The fact it will play both pal and ntsc games is a plus too. As I will have greater choice for ordering games on eBay.
The trio is also very cheap, so I don't mind getting it even if id up getting the real consoles (could always keep it for ntsc games and use the real hardware for pal)

I'm actually much more interested in GC, ps1 and dreamcast games than anything else. I already have my shield tablet hooked up to my TV which does a very good job as an emulator. I wonder if i should even bother with hardware for thoae older systems given all the extra hassle and space required.
