Re: Easy to rotate Candy cab ?
The Egret 1 and Egret 2 both have the easy rotate mechanism and each is difficult to find and expensive.

Re: Easy to rotate Candy cab ?
Astro City's are more common, but requires a partner or a good back/core to lift the CRT monitor. From my experience, it's not hard to do. Best to place it on its back (credit goes to chempop for this advice)

Re: Easy to rotate Candy cab ?
You aren’t going to want to regularly rotate a cab’s monitor, period.
Cabs such as Egret 2 with rotate mechs that allow you to turn the monitor without actually taking it out might not require much brute force to get the job done, BUT they still require rotating the monitor bezel which is usually 8 screws you have to deal with. For the price of one of those cabs you could nearly get 2 more common cabs and have 1 for vert and another hori. If that’s an option I’d say hands down it’s the way to go.
The Blast City is pretty straight forward because the bezel doesn’t screw in, it has a jiggy pull-tab that releases the thing. Still, deadlifting nearly 150lbs with a very awkward grip and carefully making sure you don’t bonk the neck of the tube (thus killing it) has to be something you are comfortable doing. With the help of another strong buddy if makes the job easier. Certain cabs you can’t lay on their back, the super neo 29 for example and maybe the sega naomi universal/net city style as well (not 100% on that though).

I have to agree with Chempop. Don't waste your money on an Egret 2, just pick up two Astros (which shouldn't cost you much more) instead and never deal with it again.

Maybe he only has space for one.
It's funny, Japan really sucked at rotate mechs while several cabs in the EU exist where it's so easy you're looking at 30 seconds. One type even had a motor and just pressing a button did it.

I had a 28 which you could rotate in 10 seconds. Honestly though now that I've owned one for a while, I definitely prefer 25s, they just look better for low resolution games.matrigs wrote:29" models?system11 wrote:Maybe he only has space for one.

The only ones I've known to have the easy rotate mechanism are the Egret 1,2, and the Kyotaro Deluxe.
Just click on each on the link and it should tell you if it has a rotate mechanism.

Re: Easy to rotate Candy cab ?
Like Josh said, none of them are "easy" to rotate. My blast city gets rotated about once a month, but I cant wait to eventually pick up a second machine and stop the hassle.

If you can get your hands on a Capcom GrandAm Q25, some of those have a rotation mechanism. It is faster than the egret 2. I leave out the bolt. All you do is lift up the upper front portion of the cab, then pull on the lock mechanism. Then just rotate it. Very easy. Only thing extra you have to do is rotate the bezel.

Egret 1 bezel is held in place by a bar at the bottom of the screen; fixed by 2 screws. I only keep 1 screw in it.chempop wrote:You aren’t going to want to regularly rotate a cab’s monitor, period.
Cabs such as Egret 2 with rotate mechs that allow you to turn the monitor without actually taking it out might not require much brute force to get the job done, BUT they still require rotating the monitor bezel which is usually 8 screws you have to deal with.

I own an egret 29. i leave the bezel and screws off! I lift the monitor cover, rotate, bring it back down and play. the whole process start to finish takes about 30 seconds. totally worth it! I wouldn't sell this cab for the world.

Re: Easy to rotate Candy cab ?
The Pony MarkII 28 also has a rotating mechanism. It's a 28" screen.
The Exceleena has a support at the back of the screen to rotate it. It does not have bearings though.
