Blazing Star - 2P bonus items.. "KEEP TO LURK AND GET BONUS"

So my 3 year old daughter keeps pressing 2P start on this game when i am playing.

Last night, she decided also to not move the joystick. I knew this trick from back in the day to get the yellow YUME to go to rank up mode.
(2P can pick it up as well, and not shoot, then the next one will be the "DREAM" kanji.)
When you pick it up, and do not shoot until it flies away, you get powerups from every enemy you shoot. This increases rank a lot, and allows for higher scoring.

However, there are at least three(?) other items which appear when 2P does not move or shoot for longer times.
I need to edit some screenshots to show them, but there is at least a round/red metallic one and a green metallic one.

When they are picked up, a timer starts to count down from 8 seconds. It's above the power up meter.
Depending on which one i picked up, the ship also starts to glow from the inside, as if a shield is active or something.

I could not tell any difference in scoring though, so i must be missing something..
The game drops a few cryptic clues on other tricks when these bonus items

"AVOID ALL" (to get the powerup/rank increase flying bonus)
"KEEP TO LURK AND GET BONUS" (don't shoot?)

So what is the key to these?

I took apart the P1 rom and found a whole bunch of messages as well as a "Pulstar 2" reference.
There also appears to be a trigger on some words you can insert (can't) like "cumsh0t" and "s3x" as wel as "JAP GO HOME" which get replaced with "YUMEKOBO" or "AAAAAAA".
Some programmers added names as well (YOSHIDA! -> MINORU and SAKAE! -> MIYAMURA)

Figured out one of these myself. I'm not sure if it was 'KEEP TO LURK' or 'AVOID ALL'.
You do not shoot and the 'force' inside the players machine keeps glowing, as the 8 seconds count down. A comment is awarded (based on?) and text shows on screen.
I think it showed "too great" but i'm not sure anymore.

Anyway, after doing that (stage 1) the ground based mini-craft spewing towers came into view, and all the mini craft i shot turned into blue bonus items..!
There are some other comments / text that you can get. Anybody know how to trigger the others?

Some of the bold ones i never saw in the finished game.. Any BS players care to comment?
