Arcades in Asia besides Japan

Hello Guys,
the next year I travel around in Australia and South-East Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam) . Maybe I could make it to Japan. It´s not sure at the moment.
I want to ask you, if their are any Shump related Places (Arcades or Stores) in Asia you could recommend bedsides Japan? I also stay a longer time in Australia especially in Melbourne.

Hong Kong has some notable arcades, but the Southeast Asian video gaming scene is heavily dominated by netcafes ("PC Bangs") in which people play online MOBAs, FPSes and MMORPGs. You're unlikely to find anything else besides a handful of dingy bootleg cabs and modded consoles rigged up for pay-to-play.

We have, er, a few arcades in Melbourne but one of the more interesting ones recently closed.

We have Timeout which has Raiden IV running on this janky LCD cabinet, it's a sad sight (terrible delay too). If you're more into music games I can elaborate on that. I also think we have a Raiden DX (who seriously doesn't) on the west side of Melbourne called at a place called Highpoint. Last I heard they got rid of some stuff (including 3rd strike) so... I can't really say at this point.

Unless you're into music games or fighters there's not much for Australia as a whole (to my knowledge), music games sure (and even then) but not shmups.

And I don't think running progear in my bedroom counts lol

It's a bit sad really. But hey if you're into IIDX you'll kind of be at home? We got two cabinets running the latest version (ones privately owned however).

Arcades in Indonesia are only kiddie-rides nowadays. At some small forgotten places you can find some Candys...but they are often in a very bad shape.

But you won't find any shmups at those places. Arcades in HK nowadays are fighters, Gundam vs Gundam, horse racing games and slots only.

You'll find nothing in Laos or Vietnam. Phuket, Thailand has a large arcade on the top floor of the central shopping city complex with Dariusburst. Hong Kong has barely any left, but Causeway Bay's Namco Wonderpark on floor six of the World Trade Center is worth a visit. China has tons. Shanghai's Lie Huo arcade is worth a plane ticket for.

I found one in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with a racing game, a Time Crisis and a couple of KOF machines. Not worth going out of your way to visit.

Oh that's great. I didn't get too much time in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon) to check out arcades but I did have my eyes open. Next time.

Deadstorm isn't much of an oddity though, I can't remember being in a recent arcade that didn't have one.

Another arcade just opened in my city here in Nanning as part of a new shopping centre, bringing the local number to about 7. Now that has some oddities: I had no idea IGS and Whalap made so many new Taikan cabs, there are loads!
