Picture quality on Wii VC dark?
I am playing 240p NES games I have downloaded from the Virtual Console, outputting the video to my HDTV via the Framemeister. I am surprised at how much darker the picture quality is from the games they emulate. I ran Super Mario Bros. on my RGB-modded NES side-by-side with the Wii port, and the former is far and away brighter. Is this is a known issue?

Yeah, they darkened NES virtual console games, supposedly to simulate how scanlines makes the image darker overall. It didn't work out too well...
Not sure about other consoles on the Virtual Console.

Why not just use homebrew emulators?

I prefer legitimate means... for now.ZellSF wrote:Why not just use homebrew emulators?
Incidentally, contra RetroRGB, I think that 240p Wii VC does not compare at all to the real thing. Still, Wii VC has a lot of rare and sought-after games at cheaper prices than the real thing.

They darkened some games, like Pulseman, on purpose, for people sensitive to seizures.
