I got it in two different versions. I had one from a few weeks ago with the same issue, and when I saw your latest update I thought it might fix it, but it did not. I got the exact same error both times. My primary screen is the 1680x1050, yes. I tried changing resolutions a few different times, none of them made a difference.mice wrote:Only in that version or was it the first time you tried it?
I guess that monitor with 1680x1050 is your primary screen, or?
Strange that you'd get an excpeption when trying to set the resolution that is clearly working.

New explosions and stuff.
Bosses are still too easy with the blue ship. I guess it just is a bullet cancellation issue at this point?
Xbox version now has a "change aspect ratio" option that lets you do 4:3.
Seems to work more than good.

Please edit the bat file and add some other resolution, to try. To 1280 720 or something.hanasu wrote:I got it in two different versions.

So, any more feedback before I ship this one?
Also, I decided that I'll go with the "WPG Arcade", with Broken Pearl as one of the games, for the xbox version.
So you get BP, Twin Tiger Shark, Undead SEED and Heavy Recoil in the same download.
I think this is ok for xblig as there is a totally new game in there.
Don't know if I've posted this, but this is the current front end for it. I think it's ok, or?

So, what do I call this collection then?
Pixel Arcade?
WPG Arcade?
WPG Bundle?
Retro Collection?
Or is all this just ta bad idea?
Only planning it for the xbox, seeing as it's probably the last release I do for it.
PC and OUYA will have BP released as normal.

IMHO I'm honestly not too keen on the words "retro" and "pixel". Everytime I hear them the first thing that comes to mind is "probably trying too hard and/or not to be taken seriously"...and believe me, your games don't deserve that kind of apathetic reaction.
Try focusing on the experience the customer will get from the bundle. I would suggest something along the line of Nintendo's old "Adventure Series" on the NES. When you read the label on the packaging, you immediately knew it wasn't some puzzle or sports title you were going to experience right out of the box. You knew from the words alone what the theme would be. Also, think of Capcom's "Three Wonders".
I'm tempted to suggest something like "Action Bundle" but then Action 52... *shudder*

My dumb suggestions are:
- Heavy Seed Arcade
- Heavy Pearl Arcade *snort*
- Wide Recoil Collection
- Heavy Tiger Bundle
- Arcade Seed
That's about it, sorry

I definitely think you need a title that makes it obvious that you're releasing a compilation of fully-sized games and that it's not some sort of gimmicky minigame collection or something.

Please keep'em coming!
As this list of actual game collection names from the C64 proves: there is no such thing as a bad name.
Hit Pak
100% Dynamite - 4 Explosive Hits
Dynamite Hit Sensation
High Voltage Vol 1
Value Pack
Six Star hits
4 Games in 1
Taito Coin-Op Hits
Sporting Gold from Epyx
Wheels of Fire - The Ultimate Driving Compilation
Soccer 6 - Super Value 6 Soccer Games
Addicted to Fun - Ninja Collection
Which reminds me that Coin-Op isn't used as a term anymore, was this a local word in the UK?
Need to do a cover image that reflects the content as well then, I suppose. Now it got even harder.

Coin-op was used here in the 'states, too; but it's used sort of like "amusements" was in describing a wide range of things rather than anything very specific. It could refer to anything from a gumball dispenser to a kiddy ride to a UFO/catcher machine to arcade and pinball games.
Thanks to a certain japanese show, I've become attached to the term "game center", personally. So, how about 'Wide Pixel Game Center'?

I had just entered "WPG Arcade Collection" and hit enter when I saw your post.Rozyrg wrote:So, how about 'Wide Pixel Game Center'?
But I guess I could change it.

Now they're saying that this isn't allowed over at the xblig place.
Gaming the system by re-releasing games...but since it's a new game in the compilaton, I don't think it should be a problem.
Takes up the same amount of shelf place, so to speak.
sigh.
Re: mices projects (Broken Pearl, now in Beta - Novemebr 16t
Now they actually have more stupid reasons.
So...I'm Preparing BP (in its lonely form) for a XBOX release now. Any last words?

Damn. It'd be nice of MS were as lax about upholding their guidelines as they are about, y'know, paying people.
Anyway, thanks for making the effort; I daresay this'll be the last XBLIG game most of us ever try.

Re: mices projects (Broken Pearl, now in Beta - Novemebr 16t
Don't complain! Where would we be without the uptight peer review police trying their hardest to stop games with heart and effort getting on the marketplace?
We totally need them.... really!
Anyway, who said it's not allowed? Did you actually fail peer review or was it from MS themselves? Because uhm, I don't think this is a re-release at all. A re-release would be releasing the same game without any significant modifications. What you're doing here is releasing a new product that re-uses old code. Anyone who buys it and already owns the old games gets those.. and they get a brand new game.
I don't think I could fail this based on that. It seems slightly retarded to do so.
I was actually scared of this exact thing regarding Chronoblast which is one of many factors holding me back from doing the patch. Like, would one be able to get away with doing a seperate black label release? We know those are a thing and have significant changes.. but to the casual non shmupper? Hmmm...

I think they are, it's just a few remaining game devs acting police and making sure we don't spam the channel with crap....ey, wait a minute...GSK wrote:It'd be nice of MS were as lax about upholding their guidelines as they are about, y'know, paying people.

I got them convinced about that, but then this:n0rtygames wrote:Because uhm, I don't think this is a re-release at all.
And I just didn't have the energy to answer...and seeing it was from a MVP, I guess it got some kind of value.2. It forces an already overloaded review system to re-review ALL your games. To pass this game someone has to play each of them and they've already done that. No we can't believe that nothing has changed. If you fix a bug in one of the old games we now have to review it twice once in the package and once in its original place
2.5 It screws your end users - now there's 2 places for them to find a game. Network games wont connect to each other and there's 2 different products to update.

Re: mices projects (Broken Pearl, now in Beta - Novemebr 16t
I would've thought the biggest bitch coming from the Xbox Community on this at all would be the use of Godzilla roars, blah blah copyright, blah blah getting prosecutedt the full extent of the jam by Toho Studios, etc. "Oh no it's the same game twice!" seems more along the conventional line of stupid considering stuff like CoD is the same game x50 and nobody complains.

Re: mices projects (Broken Pearl, now in Beta - Novemebr 16t
It's all about shelf space. I shouldn't be able to re-release the same game once a week just to be on the "new" list.
If I wouldn't have written that it was my old games in there, I don't think they would have noticed.

Sweet!
I actually just cancelled my Live subscription; but my brother ended up getting a Xbox One during a holiday sale and got his own sub to use with it. I honestly can't remember if you even need Gold for XBLIG, though. >_>
Is it still coming to OUYA?
