BVM 20F1U Standby Problem

Post by GareBear87 »

Hey guys,

I have 2 BVM 20F1Us and one of them works fine but when I go to turn on the other one the standby button blinks red. I read in the manual that if it steadily stays red when there's power running to it from the switch on the back then it should be good to go but when I turn it on using the remote the standby button blinks. I read in the manual that you can go into system configuration and set it so that when the BVM is turned on it will automatically go to operation mode instead of standby. I changed it to do that in the settings using my other BVM but that didn't do anything. So do I just wait it out or is there a way to work with it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is an option to turn off standby mode and go straight to power on in the menu. I've never experience any blinking lights when using this option. I fear that there could be a hardware problem if yours blinks more than once before the screen turns on. You could try reseat the input cards, and possible give the edge connectors a wipe with some cotton buds and iso. If you are pulling them out make sure you put them back from the left side first otherwise you could risk damaging the shielding.

Do your BVMs each have a controller or are you swapping between them?
If each has a controller then perhaps that maybe an issue(bad controller). I presume you have the non working unit connected correctly as you have one working fine and imagine that it is connected the same. Perhaps it is a bad input board? Reseating it is an option and refer to the manual as I recall something about the order of having cards set it you have one with many cards. Last but not least I've had systems go into standby due to high levels of brightness and/or contrast. So try dialing those back to see if it helps. As you see it can be a variety of things along with the possibility it was damaged during shipping if yours was shipped. They are heavy and my first few shipped arrived unusable. Good luck.
