I've got Caladrius Blaze coming, and I picked up Raiden IV: Overkill while it was on sale for $10, so...maybe one of those I guess? I mean I know I'm going to be putting a ton of time into Caladrius once it gets here on Friday.PAPER/ARTILLERY wrote:Nice job Seraphis! Welcome to the forum. What are you gonna go for next?

made it midway Into stage 5 of mmp and smashed my previous high score! I'm really enjoying this game again at the moment. Definitely enjoying it more than doj anyway, although I'm making good progress on both... Think I'll stick with pork to try and clear as it's so fun!

Just no missed stage 4 of Muchi Muchi Pork for the first time in Training Mode. I have now done stages 1-3 in runs and stages 4/5 in Training Mode with no miss.
Though 3 bombs is a bit more than I would be hoping for on Stage 4, but it could work if I NMNB'd everything on stage 3 including boss or maybe depending on how many fragments I pick up which of course depends on when I bomb during the stage(The less I need to worry about how many fragments I pick up the better). The 3 bombs on that Stage 4 training run were 1 on first midboss which I really would not want to do but would if need be cause I definitely die quite a bit going for a NMNB of it and 2 on the boss's second phase(my plan really is 1 on second phase 1 on 3rd phase, but I can go for a NMNB 3rd phase if I have to bomb twice on phase 2).
As long as I enter stage 5 with at least 2 full bombs, I can potentially no miss it as I can get to the boss with 4 40/40 with a NMNB of the stage part starting with 2 full ones. I'm not sure how many fragments toward a second I'd need to be able to get to full if I entered the stage at 1 full bomb. 4 bombs for Stage 5 boss is the minimum, but it is pretty rare for me to actually pull a 4 bomb fight as you pretty much need to not get screwed while using lard shot on the opener(maybe it's consistent and I'm just bad at doing it or maybe it's RNG). 3 is possible as well with 1 bombs of the first 3 phases and a NMNB(or maybe a fragment bomb) on the 4th, but a full one would also make that phase pretty much free. And if you can manage to 2 bomb it by no bombing phase one of the first 3 phases, but that would pretty much require luck. But I think 4 is the minimum for a slightly reasonable no miss of stage 5 boss and 5 is pretty much guaranteed.
But at least I know now that looping 1.00 even with the crazy 1 life requirement is definitely doable for me assuming I don't derp myself into a bullet or enemy. I still need lots of practice on both rounds though.

Just cleared Under Defeat's first loop on hard, it took me about a week or two after deciding I wanted to do it.
I had to switch over to normal controls and change my path here and there as a result, but there is no going back to reverse now.
Maybe I'll grow a pair and go after the 2nd loop at some point..

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Re: I DID IT! Share your latest 1CCs/other triumphs here...
Hey again everyone, sorry I've been away a little bit, and that I haven't been playing too much! I had some things to take care of, university-wise and so on (I actually still have a couple more things to take care of), but things have gotten much better since the fall 2014 semester ended (for me, at least) as of last Thursday, so I should be able to get back to playing STGs again very often, at least up to the end of January!
Anyway, with that said, as of last night, I got my 1st lunatic 1cc of Mountain of Faith! I used Marisa C for this one, and I've finally been able to do full runs on it since Saturday (I did some practice mode here and there last month, along w/ watching & studying replays, whenever I had time to, so I had a bit of a head start, by the time I finally got to do full runs), so it was awesome! It's the first big thing I've done for this winter break! ^^
So, yeah, here's the video in the link below, if anyone's interested in watching:
PurpleTheGuy's 1st MoF lunatic 1cc!
Well, that makes MoF the 5th Touhou game I've beaten in Lunatic mode!
I also did this little thing earlier this month, where I beat Phantasmagoria of Flower View in lunatic mode using Medicine Melancholy, so yeah, I also made a video of that. Here we go:
PoFV lunatic 1cc using Medicine Melancholy!
Well, that's that for now (Well, I really should still make that video of my 1st ever PoFV lunatic 1cc (Also my 1st ever Touhou game I've beaten in lunatic mode) I did back at February of this year using Eiki Shiki)! I'll see if I can get some more big STG achievements, Touhou-related and not Touhou-related! It is the winter break for me, after-all, so who knows? Well, here goes!

Meanwhile, I just beat Hitogata Happa on Euridice (easy) mode, which I've done before, but this time I managed to unlock the TLB as well, which is kinda nuts. Still beat it, and got a decent rank in the online leaderboard...

Thanks, Jonst & DocHauser! Yeah, it definitely was a nice way to start off the winter break for me, haha!
Hey, nice going on that TLB clear for Hitogata Happa, DocHauser! Heh, it's pretty funny to see Jaimers at rank #4451. It's like he's holding out on everyone or something like that, haha.
Yeah, I got back indeed, Jonst! Yeah, I finally have some time to play, up to the end of January, so it's all looking very good on my end! So yeah, what's up, Jonst? ^^
Also, nice going on the SDOJ clear, Bananamatic! I'd like to do SDOJ one day, but that's going to be some time for me, and I'm going to start from DoDonPachi in the DoDonPachi series, and build up from there. Which shot-type did you use, & was it the arcade mode, by any chance, if you don't mind me asking, of course? ^^

Congrats BNM and PurpleTheGuy!
I think starting with DP or DDP is the right choice, neither are very tough 1-Alls, among CAVE’s easiest actually if you are just playing for survival.
I am on my 2nd week off from playing anything since the Batrider Advance clear, but I have 2 weeks vacation and I’m going to work on getting the letter score.

Hmm, I see. That's pretty cool! Yeah, the only reason I asked about the arcade part is b/c I know there's also a novice mode & the Xbox 360 mode. Also, yeah, I was thinking of using Type-C, since, well, wide-shot and all.
Also, thanks chempop!
Yeah, I'm going to start with DoDonPachi for the DoDonPachi series (Yeah, I would do DonPachi, but eh, I want to do DoDonPachi more. That, and Erppo & Azinth recommended me to do this along with Touhou
), since I know I wanted to play that one for some time now, and so far, I've found that it's pretty easy to do a simple 1-ALL with all the bombs the game gives you, so I like to go & loop the game. So far, I worked on it for an hour or so for one day, and I learned how to get all 13 bees for the 1st three stages. I was going to learn how to get all 13 bees for stage 4, but I got a little sidetracked last night due to other stuff, so yeah, I should do that today, I think. I'd also have to learn how to chain enemies and all that, & go map out my route for stage 5 & 6, but that shouldn't be too bad, I think. I'll be using C-L for this, so I'll be working on this game, along with some other games as well.
Good luck on getting the letter score for Batrider Advance, chempop! ^^
Also, thanks chempop!

Bees or hit count is the way to go. 50 million score, or the survival ones(low bomb usage or low deaths) are hard. Try to learn the stage 2 full chain as it'll be enough hits to get into the loop. Stage 5 can potentially work too even if you don't know how to chain because of the huge amount of enemies at one part, but it's so easy to get yourself walled on stage 5. Bees can act as a backup option.
Hitogata Happa is a pretty weird game with how you use the bombs(and you have to). The difficulty is a huge jump every time you go up one of the difficulty levels. Try out Solo Voyage or Destiny 13 for a different experience or go up a difficulty. There is no TLB in Solo Voyage or Destiny 13 Euridice, but the TLB will always appear in those modes on difficulties above that regardless of how many dolls you have left.
The scoring does seem like it could be interesting since it seems like you need to kill stuff while in a certain range to cancel bullets for score items. But I've never actually watched any high level play to see how much it can be pushed.
I never did finish all the solo voyage runs(stupid melee only doll even on Euridice), or Allemande/Doomsday difficulties, or the Destructive achievement for destroying every boss part(apparantly I only missed 1 somewhere) I also never beat Nobilmente on the normal gameplay mode, though I beat it on Solo Voyage Fool.

nice one, congrats bnm! sdoj is on my list at some point (in the distant future)...
well, thought i'd have a break from muchi muchi pork arcade and try arrange mode for a change. After a couple of tries with the blue character, i switched to rafute and cleared it first go with her!
back to arcade mode now... this should answer your question purple! been messing around with mmp and doj but think i'll stick to mmp arcade until I've cleared it...

An extremely puny one, this, but I got a first loop clear of Batsugun Special Version on the same day I started playing it. I don't think I'd ever had a credit of Special before. Now to 1-ALL normal (maybe) and learn those scoring tricks,
Re: I DID IT! Share your latest 1CCs/other triumphs here...
Got around to clearing Kamui on normal after a month of not touching it. Sort of something I was doing on the side since I had other things I wanted to focus on. I think this would have happened sooner if I wasn't trying to figure out how to do some scoring. Gave up scoring on the last 2 stages since I haven't really taken the time to learn them.

I'll see if I can get something done on the other difficulties if I don't end up doing something else later.

Which version of MMP Arcade are you playing? Assuming you didn't change it, you're playing 1.01 since the port requires you to change to 1.00.
Either way, if you 1-All 1.01 and therefore enter the second loop, you can 1-All 1.00 as well as it really isn't that much harder to do so as the main difficulty with 1.00 is more in scoring due to lower lard shot time, the looping requirement(which I'm trying to meet), and the conditions you have to deal with in the loop. It's a much harder version for scoring or 2 loop play compared to 1.01.
Rafute is a great choice for survival. She is the lowest scoring but also the easiest to loop with in both versions while Momo/Ikuo is pretty much viewed as preference here(WRs are with Momo, so I don't know what the advantages between her and Ikuo are and the records thread doesn't show the WRs for Rafute and Ikuo though I do wonder what they are). I have never 1cc'd the game with Momo or Ikuo, though I'm sure I could 1-All either version with them easily if I bothered to play them and get used to the shottypes, though I don't know how far I'd get in the loop compared to Rafute for 1.01.

Both games default to 1.01 on the port, so you're playing that. You'd have to change the game settings to play 1.00 version or the Harahara(which skips straight to loop 2) or Manpuku(some nice hilarity with suicide bullets) courses.
Re: I DID IT! Share your latest 1CCs/other triumphs here...
Ah right, thanks! I was never sure... I enjoy the game but haven't dissected the difference in the versions. If rafute has the lowest scoring potential, what makes her a good/easy choice for survival?
I'm not sure if it made a difference what character I played with to make the final boss, I don't feel most comfortable with one character over another... I've had good games with all characters.
I'd love to hear some more input from someone who knows the game well.

Another good tip is that the lard shot is stronger the closer to the enemy you are, so if you can do so safely or during a bomb, point blanking will help you kill faster with it.
Rafute has a decent wide range shot which seems to have some splash damage. Her bomb lasts for the longest time but and is decent powerful allowing you to be safe for longer time and get more damage in. The lard shot has some minor homing which also helps with killing enemies. Her bomb covers most of the screen, so you can't milk bosses with it as long if you care about that. She is the fastest character which helps for moving around the screen on certain patterns to misdirect certain enemies but might cause you to run into something that you might not have with the other characters.
Momo has a wider shot, but the lard shot is a bit doesn't home(it's also kind of a wider shot) which allows you some more control over it. The bomb doesn't cover as much of the screen, so it's possible to avoid having it damage something(for both Momo and Ikuo, you can go to the left/right side of screen and use the bombs to avoid damaging a boss much). She is the second fastest character.
Ikuo's normal shot when powered has some homing properties(which if I had to guess probably loses her some points over Momo). She has the shortest lasting bomb(another reason why Momo probably scores highest). The lard shot is the lowest range of them which may be useful for controlling medals. Being the slowest character doesn't help things either.
Rafute is just powerful in general and doesn't really need as many extends as the others in terms of survival. The bombs are where a lot of the difference in score comes from since you can bomb milk bosses for pigs a lot longer on the other 2 characters and suicide more often to do it with them in both loops on 1.01. Version 1.00 only gives you 1 score extend in its second loop(this was changed in 1.01 so you'll keep getting them), so Rafute's survival advantages really help her there even more and the other 2 have the disadvantage in survival but some advantage in scoring even there.

Thanks man! I knew about the bomb differences and speeds but that was about it... I'm loving the game and am improving every day, so I'll keep with it and clear (hopefully soon!) I have played it casually for a couple of years but I'm enjoying it even more playing seriously.

Re: I DID IT! Share your latest 1CCs/other triumphs here...
Finished off both Salamander and Life Force (Japanese version) recently, on hardest difficulty and with the wait/slowdown disabled.

Life Force 1CC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51ZBcTl5vqU
There games are very rage inducing (especially Salamander with no ability to get extends), I don't know if I'd ever play them again after all the frustration lol.

^Man you are crazy about Gradius... I can barely scrape through those 2 on Normal with copious slowdown. Salamander has got to be a total bitch without it.
Impressive as usual.

I'm trying to 1CC/finish the entire Gradius series, once and for all. Still need to finish Salamander 2 and the MSX games, and the gameboy games, Graidus Rebirth, and...well there are a lot of games left. I'm probably going to put them on the backburner after Salamander 2 and try a different series (either Raiden, R-Type, or maybe Donpachi).ACSeraph wrote:^Man you are crazy about Gradius... Anyway, Salamander is one of the most frustrating games I've ever played, and it's very short (like 12-13 minutes for a loop), but it made me rage like almost nothing has before. The hit box for your ship is gigantic and you literally get killed by stuff that isn't even close to you (sprite wise).
In that Life Force run I posted, I literally died to apparently nothing at the final boss. Maybe it was a suicide bullet that spawned right on me? I have no idea, but I died to seemingly nothing, it that isn't an uncommon occurrence in those games. Bullets can easily clip your ship without actually hitting your sprite at all, and despite the ability to pick up your options, recovery is extremely hard.

Haha, yeah I know exactly what you are talking about, we had to play it for a tournament earlier this year. But despite being a really buggy feeling game I actually really like Salamander for some reason. But exactly because it's bullshit, I can't imagine why you'd want to make things even harder on yourself. I'm guessing you aren't just clearing the entire series, but clearing all of them on the highest difficulties?
If you don't like giant bullshit hitboxes and rarely seeing what killed you the MSX games are going to turn you into a serial killer. Salamander feels as tight as Gradius V in comparison. Make sure to meditate a bit between sessions
At your level the other ones will probly go down quickly. I'm guessing you'll blind clear the two GB games. If you want a new series might I suggest Darius?
