Puzzle & Dragons
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
I'll add from my alt account when I get home (Vanity@PF). I've got a nearly +297 Ronia on there. working on a Pandora team on my main, but it's got a way to go (although I did just roll a Persephone in the last Godfest which should help a lot, and I did recently roll a Hanzo as well.)
My two accounts:
Main account: Vex'ous@PF http://www.padherder.com/user/Vexation/monsters/ ID: 384,491,214
Main leads: Green Zhuge Liang, Dark Metatron, Valkyrie, developing Pandora, Andromeda, and maybe eventually Kirin
Alt account: Vanity@PF http://www.padherder.com/user/Vanity/monsters/ (severely outdated) ID: 331,991,229
Main leads: Nearly +297 Red Sonia, Light Metatron, Red Odin (for Thursday Dungeons), Developing a Blue Sonia, GZL and maybe eventually a Light Kali

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
By the way, if you're playing on Android and use PADHerder, there's an app that will update your PADHerder automatically. It's called PADListener, and can be found on Google Play. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any iOS equivalent at this time.
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
I myself also play P&D a lot when I get a chance. Run a lot of the popular team leads everyone uses: D/D Haku, G/D Bastet, W/L I&I, D/L Yomi, Kushi, Yamato, and Grape Dragon (!). Use to do IAP last year, but saving up on Magic Stones from the special events negated it effectively once I had a decent amount of monsters in my box. Re: Puzzle & Dragons
You guys. How can I save enough money to buy a house in Southern California when the Christmas REM exists?
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
I lucked out and got the only one I really wanted (Chibi Valkyrie for my LMeta team) in one roll on my alt account. I did five rolls on my main and got a Leeza (should make a good GZL sub) and a regular Kirin. The only problem with that is that I already have two other Kirins, and I'm really terrible with combo leads.
Think I'm done rolling the Christmas REM after that.
As for IAP, I do still buy stones every so often and tend to do at least a couple of rolls in most Godfests, but at this point I think I have plenty of leads, and I'm typically looking for more subs. Right now the top of my wishlist is a Kushinada (virtually mandatory for doing a lot of descends with a GZL team) or a Blue Sonia on my main. I already have a Blue Odin and some decent blue physical subs. I've gradually accumulated most of the stuff I'd need for a Pandora team, and one or two more good subs would get me a respectable DMeta team as well (fortunately I got a Hanzo, which seems to be the big one for DMetas.)
My alt account is really getting to the point where I'm just about satisfied with what I have, and just need to develop it more. My Ronia hit +297 a couple of days ago (and needs 3 more skill-ups for hypermax) and most of the rest of the team is pretty well covered.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Ok so I just keep turning these sheep into ponies because they're powerful as hell.
Also just beat Castle of Satan and it wasn't even hard, yet guides seem to indicate that it should be some sort of small milestone?
This game is just so weirdly inconsistently balanced, it's like an arcade shmup with dip switch set to 'VERY HARD'
Though I'm kinda starting to like that..

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
CoS is a very common place for early game players people to get stuck in their progression. Generally you can get by up to that point with pretty much your starter dragon and whatever you might farm along the way, but that's where you really need to start having good leads and developing your teams. It's also the point where you unlock the technical dungeons.

And oh boy, Technical Dungeons makes this game so good/so bad

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Hi, been playing two accounts for 1 week now and need some advice on which account I should focus on....
1) I am a non-IAP player, please keep that in mind - "gods" don't come easy.
2) On my main account (Rank 37) I have the following monsters:
#0496 - Ra - lv. 14 +1
#1788 - Incarnation of Genbu, MeiMei - 19
#1790 - Incarnation of Byakko, Haku - lv. 23 +1 / +1 Awoken
1x Mid Light Ninja - Lv. 13
1x Tyrannos / Brachys
1x Keeper of Water - Lv. Max
1x Dub-Mythlit
2x Mythlit
1x Extreme King Metal Dragon
1x Angelit
4x Tamadras
(plus lots of Dragon Flowers and other evo stuff, Tri Coloured Ogres, ...)
3) On my 2nd (let's see what we roll here) account, which is at Rank 20 right now, I managed to roll:
#1791 - war deity of the night, tsukuyomi - lv. 14 +1 / +2 Awoken (she still "costs" too much to lead right now)
#0753 - Incarnation of Byakko, Haku - lv. 7
1x Mid Light Ninja - lv. 6
1x Extreme King Metal Dragon
2x Tamadras
1x Green Dragon
1x Tyran
1x Plessie - lv. max +6
(plus some other Ogres, Attackers and Evo Material)
4) What do you think, is #1791 a "worthy" lead, or should I keep on building and leveling up my main account with Ra, meimei and haku as leads?
(The post Castle of Satan levels + the 3rd green Technical Dungeon are quite tough for my team right now, OHKO,....

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Out of what you have there Ra has the most potential, but combo leads can be difficult to use, especially ones that need 4 or 5 colors to activate. In the short term I'd say Haku is probably your best bet (you don't specify whether the ones you have are the Chibis from the Christmas REM or the regular ones) but you need to make sure you have some good fire and water subs to go with her, and try to get some orb changers (Mystic Knights are good ones for this, and should be at least somewhat farmable.) You'll probably want to try to get a Vampire as soon as possible as a good match for Haku. I'd also try to get a Naga or Echidna as soon as possible, since the delay skill is very useful at low levels (if you can get 500,000 gold in the next couple of days you can do Scarlet Snake Princess from the coin dungeons to get Naga drops.)
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Hi, the monsters with #17xx are all Chibis.
/ So, you say 'stick with The Ra and Haku Chibi'?
Ra has great potential but not every board is Ra-able and even if it is, setting up a rainbow combo isn' the easiest thing... an orb-changer is needed too.
Naga was already on my list. So tell me, how does this coin dungeon work? -> You pay for a guaranteed drop if you beat it?
or what are the 500k for?
I will look into Scarlet Snake and Satan's Castle maybe I will get a lucky drop...
Also, I just have discovered the Pengdra Village, YAY! There were only 6 minutes left so I gave it a go and managed to get 3 big and 2 small ones!
This game is so addictive!

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
The 500k is the entry fee for that particular Coin Dungeon. Each time you buy the dungeon you only have access for one hour. The selection of Coin Dungeons available in the store rotates every couple of weeks. Some dungeons are unique to this system, while others, like Scarlet Snake Princess, appear in the regular Special Dungeon schedule for a few days every couple of months.Geist wrote:Naga was already on my list. I'm not sure when Scarlet Snake Princess will appear again, so if you're desperate for a Naga, buying the dungeon while it's available in the store is your best bet. Getting one to drop from low-tier Normal and Technical Dungeons like Castle of Satan can be a nightmare as the drop rate is about 2~5%.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
If you're lucky, you might be able to get a Naga out of the Pal Egg machine too, but they're rare there as well. They're doing three different 24-hour Godfests for the new year with different sets of gods for each one, so if you have some stones you might roll in those. Out of the three, I think the one most likely to give a low-level player friendly drop is the second one on 1/1, with Norse and Hero Gods series. Hero Gods increase their multiplier depending on how many orbs of their color you can link, which is a little bit easier to deal with than the combo leads, but you will also want orb changers to go with them. The Norse gods can pair up with the Greek god of the same color (for example, Freyr matches with Ares, or Idunn&Idunna match with Hermes) to do monocolor teams with 4x ATK/2x HP/2x RCV that will get you a decent way into the game until you can develop some of your other leads.
This page is a good reference for orb changers:

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
A bit of quick advice: The next round of Challenge Dungeons has just arrived, and the first three should be very easy for Haku to deal with since they only have her orb colors. Put together a quick Haku team if you don't have one already, clear those three, and the first one will give 500,000 gold. The second and third give super king dragons for a nice little XP boost.
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Thanks for the info guys.
I played "Hunt for the King Ruby Dragon" twice today, only to overfeed my Tyrannos big time...
wasted at least 1 King Ruby Dragon and 2 smaller ones in the process as it reached its max level at 35 way to quick....
(well, I guess I will have to check max levels before batch feeding high EXP material in the future)
Now I am missing one of these little green Dragon Seeds for the evo,
already cleared a couple of low level dungeons to loot one but without luck.
Re: Scarlet Snake Princess - I remember seeing the dungeon a couple of days ago, so I guess I will have to be patient and grind the coin dungeon when I get the chance.
The Challenge Dungeons, you were talking about, don't show up on my "special D." list, is the content in the US and EU the same?
Right now I can only see the Batman Collab, Blue Pirate Dragon, RO ACE Collab and Tower of Jewels....

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Challenges 1-9 down. I really want the Flampy from Lv10 for my Awoken Hinokagutsuchi, but I just can't foresee tackling it without a huge amount of stones. If I was confident that I could do it in 5 stones or less I'd go for it, but I'm not even sure that's possible for me right now.
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
I only have a team that can reliably beat up to level 5 on my alt in the challenge dungeons, and only up to 4 on my main (can't handle the preemptive on floor 2 of level 6.) Not sure what I'd do for the higher ones beyond that.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Wow. I decided to give Lv10 a try and actually managed it. Here was my team:

It took me 5 stones total. The biggest mistake I made was on Hera-Ur. She was very close to dead, and I and ended up burst healing her with a 5 combo (she absorbs below 6 combo attacks) which ended up costing me 4 stones right there because she was killing me every turn after that and my team was built around light/dark resist of which she is not. One more stone used on D/D Hera because I actually didn't realize she used her Ultra Gravity attack since I resisted 75% of it and assumed it was a normal attack, then got smacked with Ultra Graviton Bomb. I got super lucky on Athena. My plan was to save up all of my actives and push her beyond 50% so she would enter green and use resurrection, and then burst her down with my actives with strong fire attacks while stoning for life, but miraculously her resurrection move never kicked in (I'm not entirely sure what happened?) so I was able to finish her off in one burst from there.

I started playing this (on my Christmas tablet, great present Ln
) and do not understand a word of what you guys say about the game.
If I understand it correctly, I have to level up my monster to make them better, some questions about it :
- what is the difference between power up fusion and evo fusion ?
- why cant I choose my material for evo fusion ?
- what happens when a monster reaches max level ?
- will I get some reaaaally good monster by levelling up ? Or do I better rely on those egg machines ?
- is there some kind of levelling up chart somewhere ? Some scheme that could help me understand which monster level up thanks to which monster ?
Also willing to take all advices you guys could give to a really newcomer.
Jeeez, this game IS the time waster it promises to be.

I am also new to this game, but I will try to answer your questions anyways. Pro gamers - please feel free to correct or add.

In "evo fusion" you can evolve certain monsters (think Pokemon) that are already at MAX LEVEL. Evolving will usually improve the potential of said monster but after an evolution you "might" start again from level 1, which can mean that your evolved monster is actually weaker than its pre-evo counterpart. To evolve a monster you need to use special monsters and items called "evo material", (Dragon Seeds, Plants, Masks, Dublits) which can be a pain to farm... Keep in mind that some monsters can go through several /ultimate/ evolutions. It also makes sense to doublecheck the remaining XP required to max-out a monster before batch feeding enhace material, so you dont waste lots of EXP in the process...
There are also fancy EXP evo curves and stat growth curves (early bloomer, late bloomer) for all monsters, but you will figure it out eventually.
Keep in mind that sometimes it doesn't make sense to max a monster before feeding it, because of diminishing EXP returns (EXP input > EXP output) On the contrary - some monsters should at least be leveled to a certain degree before feeding them.

Make sure to only use the Rare Egg Machine if "Godfest" is live! The same is true for the Pal Egg Machine, only use it on special promo days for example "Rare Evo Material" is on... and just hope for that golden +Egg!

Also, I recommend reading this guide here: http://pad.wikia.com/wiki/New_Players%27_Guide
Please, read the other info guides on that page too.
Lastly, make sure you start out with a decent "lead" GOD monster from the REM because it will make the early game so much easier.
Meaning, if you didn't get a decent god from the first 2 pulls you should reinstall the game and try again until you get a proper leader god.
Check out the guide above for more info. Also don`t waste Magic Stones on Continues or Stamina, only spend Magic Stones on Box Space and REM if Godfest is live, unless you are willing to pay for the IAP...
Lastly, to gain RANK pretty fast I'd recommend grinding the level "Dragons of the Tower" in the "Tower of the Giants" dungeon because it gives the best early Stamina/EXP ratio, especially on weekends when Stamina cost is 50%... Ranking up increases your Stamina, Team Costs (better mobs on your team) and Friend List capacity. Also, make sure to use the "helper" feature to its full poptential and try not to waste friend space on people who use weak starter dragons. Please also read about team compositions (burst, sustain), skills - and how to max them and Special Dungeon events.
That's it for now...
P.S. Don't feed Tamadras for EXP, keep them to "awake" special passive skills on your "lead" monsters.
cheers

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Power up fusion is used primarily to level cards up. You get a 50% exp bonus when feeding cards of the same primary orb color, so typically you should only feed like colors unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. Most cards can be evolved into more powerful versions once it reaches its maximum level, but it requires some other (usually evo material type) cards to serve as ingredients in the process, that is what evo fusion is for. Even if a card is grayed out in evo fusion, if it can be evolved, you can still select it and see which materials it will require, and which of them you currently possess. Try it out!guigui wrote:what is the difference between power up fusion and evo fusion ?
There is also a secondary type of evolution which does not require the card to be max leveled to do, and uses normal power up fusion to trigger, but this is something you won't likely run into until you get further into the game. This type of evolution is usually available once a card has been evolved as far as it can go normally, and serves as a "final" or "ultimate" evolution of the card. It is seemingly intentionally arcane, and requires the player to look up which materials are required outside of the game, as the information is not available to you within the game itself.
Finally, power up fusion is also used for leveling up active skills of cards. If you look at any card, you will notice that the active and leader skills actually have a colored name and then an uncolored description. When you feed a monster another monster that has a skill with the exact same name, there is a small chance (roughly 10%) its skill will level up, effectively lowering its cool down period by 1 turn, so you can use it sooner, and more often. During event periods, this chance is doubled, which you have probably seen on the yellowish message on the power up fusion button recently. Some early cards you might attempt to try skilling up would be things like the fighters/knights series, e.g.
The devil series, e.g.
And really any other common cards which you often get that have an active skill on them.
At a high rank, skilling up powerful cards is one of the most time consuming but rewarding things you can do to take your team to the next level, and is a huge focus in the end game grind. You've probably noticed that the game has many collaborations with other companies/franchises (there is a Batman one going on now). Historically, these have been used as a way to provide unique cards for a limited time that have the same skills as many of the ultra-powerful God/Devil type cards from the Rare Egg Machine, offering the otherwise impractical chance to max out their skill levels.
Like I said above, evo fusion is only available once the card is max level and actually has an evolution path. You can check which cards can be evolved by trying to select them even though they are grayed out.guigui wrote:why cant I choose my material for evo fusion ?
It reaches the height of its base stat potential, and becomes eligible for evo fusion provided it is not already at its highest form of evolution. Note that stats can be taken to further heights through the use of +eggs.guigui wrote:what happens when a monster reaches max level ?
See: http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/article.asp?aid=2
In general, the most overpowered cards come from the Rare Egg Machine, but there are "farmable" cards in the game that can take you extremely far, including some which are widely considered to be among the best in the game. Case in point, Echidna:guigui wrote:will I get some reaaaally good monster by levelling up ? Or do I better rely on those egg machines ?
At an early level, save your magic stones, and only spend them on increasing your box space. The Rare Egg Machine can be a huge waste of stones early on, and is absolutely unnecessary for progressing in the early game. My advice is to only spend stones outside of box space when you really, really understand what you are doing, or you're going to regret it later.
Definitely read through this:guigui wrote:is there some kind of levelling up chart somewhere ? Some scheme that could help me understand which monster level up thanks to which monster ?

In general the go-tos are going to be:

- http://www.puzzleanddragonsforum.com/ - The most active English-speaking community around the game.
- http://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons - If you're a reddit guy. Lots of overlap with the forum, it seems.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Looks like we posted about the same time, hah. Well more info never hurt.
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
Pengdra evolution used to require the corresponding metal/gem dragons in addition to dragon seeds/dragon plants, but I believe they recently made a change to remove this requirement so you just need the seeds/plants now. Ultimately, Pengdras are good for leveling up at low levels, but once you get to the point where you can run them reliably you'll probably do better with running the super king dungeons for leveling up your monsters.

Thanks for all the advices guys, you are love
I did read through all of this a have a better understanding of the game now. Now I'm wondering if I have to reroll my whole team, I had a wizard Sharon and a Jester.
If i understand it correctly, the only real reason why I should use magic stones is the REM (apart from increasing my monster box size to what suits me), during godfest events.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
The usage of your magic stones really depends on what your stance is on microtransactions. If you are definitely 100% never going to spend any money on this game (never say never!) then honestly I would avoid the REM completely until there is an insanely good godfest going on (preferably overlapping with a good gala) featuring many different gods that would all take your team to the next level and then spend all of your stones rolling while praying to whatever your concept of God is.guigui wrote:If i understand it correctly, the only real reason why I should use magic stones is the REM (apart from increasing my monster box size to what suits me), during godfest events.
Re: Puzzle & Dragons
At low levels you'll pretty much want to use your stones for the REM and box space. Stones for stamina refreshes don't really do much good until you reach somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 stamina (so you can do 2 runs on a 50-stamina dungeon.) Stamina regenerates twice as fast as it used to (up until about 2-3 months ago stamina regenerated at a rate of 1 point per ten minutes, now it's five) so even higher level players generally don't use stones for stamina anymore unless they're farming specific urgent dungeons like super kings or Star Vault for + eggs. After you hit 50 friends you'll also have the option to buy more friend slots with stones, which is probably a good idea to ensure a steady supply of useful friend leads. I'm right around rank 230 on both my accounts right now, and have roughly 125 friend slots and 400 box space on each one, but I do also buy stones on a semi-regular basis. I might occasioanlly use stones to continue a dungeon, but only if there's a rare drop I need for something (such as a spirit jewel invade in a descend) that I would lose without it. In most cases, it's not an effective use of stones.
If I understand correctly recently in Japan they added a feature where a stamina refresh using a stone will completely fill your stamina bar and let you go over your normal stamina limit by putting whatever you still had in your bar on top of it (so if you have a limit of 120 stamina with 35 left then use a stone to refresh you'd end up with 155/120.) Not sure when this will make it to US players, but generally it takes about a month to six weeks for stuff from Japan to carry over to US players. Even so, I wouldn't bother with stamina refreshes until you have at least 100 stamina.

Re: Puzzle & Dragons
I do not plan on spending money to buy stones, but who knows ?
I think I'll just have to stick to godfest REM. How can I get those rare god cards other than REM anyway ?

There are some powerful gods/devils that you can get from clearing descended dungeons, but a majority of the powerful god/devil type monsters come exclusively from the REM--there is no other way.guigui wrote:How can I get those rare god cards other than REM anyway ?
