So nostalgic! I normally don't go for that sort of thing, but some of my very earliest memories are playing with Tonka stuff. Those things were tough as hell too, still have some of mine lying around the garage at my parents' place.

I rush of memories just hit me looking at these Tonkas! Thanks for that!

This one time I remember getting into a fight with my younger brother (we fought a lot as kids, good friends now), and he threw one of his Transformers at me, which hurt! And got me red-faced mad! So mad that I picked up my Yellow Tonka Snowplow Pickup like the one you have, and chucked it at him! Smoked him right in the head, which lead to a big bump, some bleeding, a leftover scar, and a major beating to me. Ah the good ol' days when you could beat your kids.
He took it like a champ though, didn't even cry.

I didn't realize this till later on, but my bro is probably the toughest dude I know, even to this day.

Anyway, you've got a great collection there! I wish I had the Tonka Bronco and the Hippie Van when I was a kid...it would have made for some great bad vs good-guys car chase scenarios!

On one hand, I can understand how and why someone collects stuff alot normally.

On the other hand, these just bring back memories, and I can really see why you're getting them. Good job and good luck!

The majority of them began rusting badly after being left outside in the rain one too many times.

Mine were toast after 1 year of play in the mid 1980's !

After seeing this classic Tonka thread, it does bring back some wonderful memories of playing with some the early 1970s Tonka toys including a cement truck, a bulldozer, tractor, fire truck and a few other ones. In the USA, both Buddy L and Nylint were major players besides Tonka in the die-cast metal toy arena back in early 1980s.

I still have a Nylint produced C&H Sugar themed 18-wheeler truck that I got for X-Mas one year. It even features a rear rolling door to load up cargo if it needed be and has a retractable trailer jack stand (so that the cab portion can drive off leaving the trailer sitting in a trucking dock pit senario). The really odd thing is that, this particular C&H Nylint 18-wheeler truck set wasn't sold in retail stores and was only available by mail-order as a limited time offer back in the day. How cool is that?
