Official Nintendo NES AV/RCA cable

Post by austin532 »

What does the Official Nintendo NES AV/RCA cable look like? I believe I've seen them before. The ends are made of hard plastic and say Japan on them. I know they are very rare to find as you had to order them in the mail and 99% of people used RF during that time period.

I thought they were pretty common in the states? Didn't a pair come with every NES?

I know I have at least one, I think I also may have one still in the plastic in my NES box. The shape of the RCA connectors are identical to the ones they've used on every system up to the Wii/WiiU (four raised lines for grip). One is yellow, one is red. I'll never use them but it's cool to have.

EDIT: Found an ebay link, doesn't seem super rare, unless you're talking about something different.

I don't think that's them. Perhaps that was a second version of them? The ones I've seen look more like this:

Except the video ends are yellow instead of black.

Alright, found them. I believe these are the first versions:

See how the ends are a shiny plastic and say JAPAN.

The other ones must be the second version which have the same soft rubbery material which was used one the SNES, N64, and Gamecube A/V cables.

They are not expensive but are still hard to find though.
