Mirror War getting an english release [MMO shmup]

Nemesis Online is a prototype that is being (extremely slowly) developed on, but has some great levels worthy of being in real gradius games.

Mirror war is a Korean (if i remember correctly) shmup MMO. Good luck registering though, Korean games hate outsiders.

Also chicken invaders 3, 4 and 5. Don't play this unless you just want a laugh.

in another thread, I was not sure about MW being Korean or not, I found links to seperate versions, so I guess its both Korean and Japanese.

It's in English. And after registering, the game list shows a nice "COMING SOON" next to Mirror War.

Some digging around reveals that it is indeed going to be in english, but not western. Hopefully registration will be easy.

Looks like we're finally going to be able to play the second? ever MMO shmup.

I watched some gameplay vids, and the parts where it plays like a vertical shooter could be fun. It looks like you can jump anytime, though, which would seem to make things way too easy. Imagine a jump button in Elemental Master or Guwange.

Maybe it depends on your character. The official site proudly declares

High DPS low HP master race, as per MMO standards, will take care of that.

Also a nice part of the description that I liked:

There is a large number of skills and skill buttons to use in the middle of dodging, so a good player will have to memorize and utilize everything at their disposal

Impossible. It would basically be free invinciblity. Even if you can actually jump infinitely now, it will be nerfed later for sure.

Sorry for being nitpicky, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Valkyrie Sky came out before Mirror War.

the fishing system was soooo relaxing. I could pay a monthly fee to get to just sit in the game's fishing area. It can't put it into words how much I liked that chill fishing system

A big problem with valkyrie sky was, that the difficulty went up soooo slowly. I played it a lot and it never got even nearly challenging. I feel like that's why the game wasn't very succesful, it was honestly pretty boring even to beginners. They underestimated the progression of players, pretty much.

I heard a long time ago that mirror war is from the same developers as valkyrie sky? Not sure if true at all, and I feel too lazy to check right now.
Anyways, hyped!

I kept on trying to get a shmups forum guild going on Valkyrie Sky...maybe we can try getting one together once the english version of Mirror War is out?

I love fishing games too, my favorite one is Sega Marine Fishing. The customizable aquarium mode is so relaxing as well. The music, placing different fish...it even had Moai statues for your Gradius needs hehe!
