It's like Space Invaders on LSD ^_^

Icarus - 3,500,000 - 4-3 - MAME

Image Image

Believe it or not, exactly 3.5mil ^_^

I miss quite a lot of good chaining opportunities through not stocking enemies properly, and I haven't fully worked out the best places to get the 100k chains yet. Pretty good fun this, if a little... surreal... ^_-

Last one for the night. Hand hurts from punching the screen.

Landshark - 3,889,200 - 5-1

The 4-2 and 4-4 bosses can suck it.

It picks up in 4-2 and 4-4, significantly. I had never seen 5-1 before and it killed me pretty easy :) New enemy attacks.

Edge - 3-3 - 2'372'900 - Mame (Beginner President :P )

I HATE chaining-shmups and this game is obviously all about chaining... :?

crithit5000 - 2,414,400 - 3-4

LAWL, scratch that-

crithit5000 - 2,415,100 - 4-1

As soon as I saw "WE NOT FINISHED YET, EAT THIS. LAUNCH BOMB!", I fell over with laughter and ran into the first wave of enemies on 4-1...

There's no Ultimate Dolphin in this game, but it's got the best Psikyo/Video Systems dialog since Aero Fighters.

We are not allowing rapid fire right?

Landshark - 4,660,800 - 5-4 (Super President)

Ok, now the 5-4 boss can suck it. This game gets super manic with the later stage bosses. Bastard summons the pig boss while you are fighting him. Except the pig is now on crack.

I like how the 3-4 boss is one of the Strikers 1945 1-7 mini bosses.

Stick with it, as it is very simple but very intuitive once you get to grips with it. The first and second worlds are very high scoring, if you aim to chain with the chaining attack instead of shooting everything. Managing your captured enemies is quite important, but once you get a feel for the stages, you'll know when to capture and when to attack for chains.

I don't think autofire makes a difference in this game, as you spend most of your time capturing and firing off stocked enemies.

I *hate* chaining shmups, but somehow this one agrees with me. This isn't chaining where if you break the chain you are screwed. You just look for the biggest clump-o-enemies.

I got to 6-2, but my score was terrible. World 6 is on crack.

It will on bosses. It would definitely help me on the 4-4 boss to destroy the 1st form before it does the criss-cross spread. I end up using 2 fingers on 1 button and usually destroy it as the cross is approacing.

Auto fire is okay. I don't think it will make a significant difference.

I don't understand this game at all, because I'm scoring way less than I should be. I reached stage 4-3, and I had 289,300 points. What the fuck?

It's been a little while since I played this, but I think I remember the basics: Use the "B" button to utilize your grabby-thingy to snag an enemy: you can hold up to 3 of 'em at a time. If you charge the A button while you have an enemy in reserve, then release it, the enemy you captured will fight on your side for a short time. If you charge the A button and then hit the B button, however, you'll shoot the enemy straight out in front of you, as a special projectile. Enemies you hit with it will be able to "set off" enemies around them (thus the "chain," of sorts), and give up money bags to collect, not to mention give you bonus points right up front: hit a big enough chunk o' enemies, and you can earn 100,000 points per shot, plus whatever money bags you can collect.

If it's not exactly like that, it's something along those lines.

The game goes like this:
  • Use B to grab an enemy. You can hold up to three, or four if you charge one up as you grab another.
  • Hold Shot to charge up one of your stocked enemies. You can then either...
  • ... released Shot to use it as a charge shot and a temporary one-hit shield (enemies killed with this attack will drop 200pt moneybags)...
  • ... or press B as you hold Shot to fire it off as a powerful chaining blast (enemies killed with this will drop 2,000pt moneybags).
  • This chaining blast will take out groups of enemies in the blast radius and activate a multiplier which works on the formula:

(no. of enemies in chain x 1000) x (no of enemies in chain)

So if you kill 5 in the chain, it'll give you a bonus of (5000 x 5) = 25,000pts. If you get 10 or more, it'll give you a straight 100,000pts.
The incentive here is to try and get as many 10+ chains as you can get, and there are quite a few in each stage. Also, when you chain you create 2,000pt moneybags which can jump up the score by quite a margin.

If you need a shield, armadillos and turtles can be dropped as a multihit shield. Most of the time though, you fire them off to chain with.

With SiK in this one, it's going to be a little more difficult to stay ahead ^_^;;

Icarus - 5,250,400 - 5-4 - MAME

There's a World 6?! I can barely make it to 5-4, so I'd hate to think what W6 is like. At least the 4-2 and 4-4 bosses pose no problems now - all the deaths are in-stage.

Good scores guys, keep it up! ^_^

My computer is having some problems, everytime I try to do something more "CPU intensive" it crashes... so I cant play any games on it at the moment.

I'll be out next Friday and will only return on Sunday... so I probably won't take part on this :(
