I don't know whether it's the attempt to brag, or the need to not lie, but there is something off about this "stuntvertising" drop of tires from "up to" 10,000 feet. The claims in the video sort of match up (but also are contradicted by) this AdWeek piece which possibly gives some more context.

Meanwhile, what happened to the 10,000 foot tire drop? Well, we don't know, because they won't say.

Actually what matters - if shooting tires roughly 150mph into hard surfaces matters, which of course it doesn't - is what speed the tires reached in the drop, and how hard the surfaces were where they hit.

Obviously nobody can be expected to get straight information. Who cares about reliability anymore? Let's buy tires because they threw them outta planes!

Goddamnit. You just made me realize I've forgotten how to do Calculus. We know acceleration is 9.8 m/s, and we know distance is 3048 meters, so final velocity should be a snap to figure out...

...and I've forgotten how. That annoys the hell out of me! >:(

I wanted to play some PSX backups using an .elf I got on my memory card. I brought home a slim tonight, swap modded it, & assumed that because I already had a fat that I would have the proper hookups. No, no the PS2 slim uses an 8.5v plug so I break open my footlocker o' cords & somehow, SOMEHOW have fuck-all that will fit a slim. Top that off, I can't find my PSX memory card which originally belonged to my dead best friend which had his signature written on it. I feel like a dude who just flushed his wedding ring down the sink or a veteran's kid who soiled his dad's flag. I'm just gonna sit here & facepalm for awhile.

So you buy something that you're after for an eternity, pay immediately after the auction ended and wait for the seller to mark the item as shipped (which I sort of expect with a shipping fee of 20 Euro) - but instead you get nothing :? .
I realise I'm just in the second week since the auction ended and the seller is Italian (and I'm in Germany) but all I really want to know is whether he has sent the item or not. The first message I sent 5 days ago (in English which wasn't that great of a choice since most Italians don't speak it) but the second message I sent 2 days ago in Italian => got no response on either of them :( .
I mean I'm ok with waiting weeks (even months) for a package to show up but I just want to know if he sent it - is a simple yes or no answer too much =   .
I hope everything turn out well since it's a PCB I have seen for the first time ever for sale in 10 years  .

End of rant  .

If he doesn't respond open a dispute. If you've used eBay as much as I have as both seller and buyer, you'd know that buying online is srs bizniz

^^^ This. I had a similar situation with an Australian seller who didn't even respond to the dispute. It took some time, but I got my money back. If your seller cannot bother to reply and ensure you get your stuff, he's not deserving of the money he asked for the item.

One thing I cannot suffer to hear is employers whining "We can't find the proper profile to do job X" when with such high unemployment rates they literally have crowds of capable people ready to accept a shit pay at waiting at their doorstep.
And when they finally pick someone it's over completely stupid things, unrelated to skills, education and experience.
As long as the poor guy accepts shit conditions, shit pay and is willing to become a completely alienated robot: he's good.
EDIT: And of course he/she must be under 30.

Where I like, it seems like most people being newly hired into low and minimum-wage service jobs are over 30. Lots more older people are turning to these positions out of desperation in a shitty job market. Employers have picked up on this and are now asking themselves why they should hire some spaced-out teenage dork with no experience to run the checkout line or stock shelves, when they can have someone much more accustomed and resigned to the duties of a wage slave.

Because young people need employment to survive or else they rely on the state. People over 30 should have achieved some kind of stability, allowing graduates and younger generations to fill certain positions that will get them on the ladder o' life.

Unfortunately America's infrastructure is absolutely fucked and doesn't work properly at all, so basically everyone is getting poorer and less employed - same as Britain and most of Europe.

That might've been the case a handful of years ago, but unfortunately the private sector these days is perfectly content to not only outsource/mechanize/migrant enslave scads of jobs and leave millions of us either unemployed or attempting to make a living on trash wages when earnings haven't been keeping up with inflation for decades, but also demand that the government cut its own throat so that there's nobody to make up the difference...especially ironic when, as you mention, our infrastructure in particular is in very sad shape, and the mere notion of a large-scale training/hiring program has been pretty much beaten out of us by the plutocrats, whose only offered solution is "drop everything and get yourself tens of thousands of dollars in debt to go back to college and hope that the field you choose is still hiring when you get out - everyone can afford to do that for a few years, right? If you can't, it obviously means you're lazy and deserve to rot in hell."

Oh I know. You know I know.

I was just stating the scenario ideal. Hence the caveat, America's infrastructure is fucked.

Problem is - I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want that PCB :D .
By opening a dispute I get my money back of course but I prefer to get the PCB. I'll wait a few weeks more and hope it shows up 8) - if not you can get back the money through Paypal
up to 45 days after the auction ended right ??? Sorry for asking but it's the first time ever that something like this has happened to me :? .

I know *sob* I would if I could.
But the last time I got treated in China almost cost me an eye (literally) and I don't even want to mention the consequences this episode had on my life.
And I know too well it will happen again if I go back there. Doctors and clinics are just not on the right level for my condition.

Anyway, have fun in Shanghai  haven't been there myself since 2006. Much too many irritating young laowai over there, but the city is big enough so you can live (almost) every day without having to talk to them, especially if you're busy with your job.

The fact that apparently Finnish mothers in my area don't know how the basic laws of physics work.
Well, it's actually quite funny instead of annoying, but..
today was the 3rd time I've seen this scenario happen while in a bus and a mother tries to get in with her baby carriage:

Was pretty interesting lately to read an article and comments thread similar to this one, or this one. Lots of discussion of the H-1B visa games companies benefit from.

Also, my local paper has a story about a local company asking for deferral of their wage guarantee agreement - i.e. "we want to hire more workers with the same amount of money." I didn't read all the way through but it seems that the crowning achievement is that they had already agreed to the rules they were going to play by. Fuck, everybody plays these kinds of games in my neck of the woods.

But at least nobody's being sent to jail for crimes somebody else got convicted for. Right? RIGHT?

I had a great time in Shanghai, mainly being dumbstruck by how much it's transformed since I was last there (2007 iirc). Like a totally new place. Sadly that's because it's basically now westernised to the point where it's just another major city like London/New York etc, but it does boast some incredibly preserved architecture courtesy of French, English and US occupiers, making it rather remarkable in aesthetic terms. Some of the 30s art deco buildings are magnificent and that Temple of Doom Shanghainese flavor is wonderful when you're faced with it.

It's quite a stunning city. I was far more impressed by it than I was New York, say, but then I felt similarly on a recent visit to Guangzhou's city centre, which is similarly clean, modern and absurdly prosperous. The common theme is space: it doesn't feel cramped.

Shanghai's high point for me was the arcade. Godly.

Lie Huo. Pretty sure by the looks of it it's been there for way before 2006. Probably early 90s. Had a Cave line-up like a supermodel runway: Futari Black, Ketsui, Esp2, SDOJ, DOJ Black, and many more. It was 5p a go. I practically did a bombaaa in my pants.

Printer ink cartridges. First off they're expensive. If I don't use my printer for a couple months or so they don't work anymore and then I have to go get new ones, even though the old ones still have plenty of ink. And why can't I just print something in black and white without the tri color cartridge? No, you have to have a color cartridge to print black and white. That makes perfect sense. Then when you put new cartridges in it prints off that test page every time and wastes the ink.
