SAMMY SETA VISCO SSV HARDWARE Question / Help

whats up guys i got my hands on a huge arcade haul. and in the pile of goodies was a SSV board i believe to be Storm Blade. It came with both top and bottom boards. Im assuming top is the system board and the bottom is the game. I think this because the top board seems to have the sound and graphics chips etc while the bottom board just has eeproms.

With that being said I can't get it to boot. After thouroughly checking the boards I found some major damage to the chip under the heatsink. I think its the graphics chip. It is unrepairable to say the least. Massive amount of bent and broken pins. Looks like the heatsink caused the damage.

Anyway can i just simply swap the top board with any other SSV game like Eagle Shot Golf or something? They have that board on ebay for around 30.00 and if i can just use the top board as a donor to get storm blade up and running that would be amazing! The bottom board that has the storm blade roms looks to be in good shape. im not sure if all the roms are there but i imagine they are. I just dont know if all the top boards are the same? Any help would be amazing!

you can try it, best is to use a SSV STA-0001B board as motherboard, this is the later revision mainboard and works with all games AFAIK.
with a bit of luck a STA-0001 is also ok, since vasara (one of the latest games on this system) also works with it.

Just to reiterate, you'll need this later revision of the mobo for most of the shooters as it has more RAM than the older mobo. Vasara 1-2, Twin Eagle II, etc require it.

May as well ask this here. As well as the two revisions of the mobo, are the mobos or game boards region locked at all?

And any idea on the date the SSV STA-0001B launched?

I own a game with mobo (Drift Out 94), you see, and am eying a 'game board only' item for sale. I just want to be sure they are compatible. If Drift Out 94 is post SSV STA-0001B 'launch', perhaps I could be more confident the other game will work on the mono.

I will actually dig out the mono later - I presume it will be marked as 'SSV STA-0001B' or not.

I swapped a few games around while trying to find faults and it didn't seem to make a difference.
