Its different kinds of art.

Making a game extremely playable and smooth, responsive, making it fit for both old and new players, and so on, is one kind of art.
Making the game visually appealing, giving it a deep, absorbing story, or amazing music is another kind of art.

While this can apply to pretty much any kind of game, of course some aspects of it will be more stressed out for some genres of games (story for RPGs, refined gameplay for shmups, fighters, etc).

Totally agreed. It's apples and oranges but their both definitely forms of creative expression that are too subjective to be filed under "craft".

This is exactly what I've been trying to say for years on the "Are games art?" discussion. Making things with literary value is undoubtably an art, but making something intuitive, engaging or mechanically deep is also an art, and often requires even more skill and effort to execute on.

Movies and TV shows where characters fire waaaaaay more rounds than their gun's magazines can possibly hold and they never reload.

You should probably stay away from action movies, then! If Arnold and Chow and Stallone and every other hero of mine had to stop and reload every couple of seconds I think it would lose a lot of the appeal.

I got in this argument a few times with a guy I used to work with. He'd bitch and moan all the time about that, yet Die Hard was one of his favorite movies. Not implying you're of this mindset as well, but he would complain all about the lack of realistic magazine capacity, yet not realize that hiding behind an aluminum file cabinet or drywall would be insufficient against high-powered rifles in reality.

If you are to take every consideration like that, then at least the grievance has some validity to it. Otherwise, this is the element of action! The beauty of bullet ballet and heroic bloodshed and the glorious feeling of blowing away floods of nameless scum without taking much more than a scratch with a limited arsenal! Ahhh, true poetry in motion.

Movies seldom show people going to the toilet, why would they show people in a firefight reload all the time while they're shmuping?

Its never ruined anything for me, I can say that much. It only ever really bugs me when the gun they are carrying is a revolver or a shotgun, where it's crazy obvious. It also depends on the movie. If it's something like Hard Boiled, then I don't mind. But when there's some semblance of realism, and someone fires a standard 12 gauge with no magazine extension ten or twelve times consecutively, then it bugs me a bit.

Edit: Also, on a related note, it also bugs me when guns don't have any recoil.

People drafting posts/tweets about how much (subject) doesn't matter to them.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Supervisors who unleash worthless "holiday-themed" projects on the rest of the office which are solely designed to look good at the next manager's meeting...and if you dare say anything against them you're "not in the spirit of the season".

Management is nothing but personal convenience and self-congratulation raised to an art form.

Games that incorporate a ragdoll physics system, but don't fling bodies properly.

I've just spent two hours learning how to mod Sacred 2 and painstakingly re-incorporate body flinging with every single spell.

People that turn their engines off at stop lights.. seriously - wtf is the thinking behind that? ... And I dont think its some feature built into new cars to save gas, because I can hear them furiously cranking the starter once the light turns green.. :x

You waste more petrol doing that dont you? Also the most wear and tear on a car is when you first put the key in the ignition and turn it. Crazy.

My sisters Ford KA has the function where if you are stopped for any period of time the engine goes in to some standby mode but as soon as your foot hits the clutch or gas it starts up again.

Tell me about it. I'm starting to hate printers as well. Color printers in particlar.

*rant incoming!*

I think at least once, everyday at work, I need to take a look at a printer or copymachine which for some reason or another needs attention. We're open to the public, so we have computers connected to printers that visitors can use. Most of these are color printes, and they run out toner far too quickly. And while they're set up to automatically order a new toner when that happens, I'll sometimes be asked to call and see if that order went through correctly, because it can take a day or so. That means having to call an outsourced IT company, giving all the info on the printer and also the postal address to the location, only to get a ticket in return - because the printer-stuff is then handled by another firm. So I'm none the wiser after having made that call, and have to wait for them to get back to me.

Then from time to time it's a combination of user- and machine error. Where people print things the printer doesn't like (like the whole page, interface and all, when printing out e-mail, instead of using the print function in that particular interface) and it just gets stuck on a job until it's either cancelled using the buttons on the printer or when I've found the computer with 5 or so erroneous print jobs in the queue, that someone did because it didn't work the first two times, and remove them locally. Often having to ask people to stop whatever it is they're doing so I can take a look at their computers.

And then there's the copy machines. These are usually easier to deal with but we used to have some big, plastic ones from HP and often when someone copied a color page in A3, that paper would regularly get stuck in there. Probably bad paper and settings on our part - A4 worked fine however.

Now we have KyoCera copy machines and printers, and they have a multi purpose (MP) paper feeder, in addition to the normal A4 and A3 trays. And when someone tries to copy anything, and that anything is not the right size for A4 or A3, the machine wants to use the MP tray and gives an error message. So the staff have to help them manually pick A4 or A3 every time this happens. We could probably have clearer instructions, but we tried to remove that unwanted functionality with the help of a technician and was told it wasn't possible :|

And then I haven't even mentioned the installing of printers, driver-woes, printers on different networks and printers which from time to time disappears from our network environment, or those which simply appears to operate in a different plane of existence than our own.

what
Why would anyone do this?

I'm so glad I've never seen this in my life. If someone's engine is off at a light, they've broken down.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I have no doubt that the geniuses doing this noticed that the public buses do the same at every red light - but they don't realize that the bus uses a flywheel rather than a starter.

Yeah unless the car is equipped with a special 'stop-and-go' device or similar, stopping the engine at red lights indeed consumes even more fuel.
One of my relatives is always pissing me off with this but it's impossible to discuss with him.

This is true when you first start the car, because the parts aren't oiled yet. But if you restart the engine at a stop light, I imagine they're still lubricated and wouldn't suffer wear in the same way.

In any case, it does consume more gas if you keep turning the engine on and off, but the main reason to avoid that is to not overheat and damage the starter.

Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic. This is just something I remember reading somewhere.

Normal cars annoy me and suck money faster than women.
I sold mine last year because it wasn't worth the yearly cost.
So much money just for going from point A to B is retarded.
I'll save and buy a real good one later, one that I will at least enjoy driving.

Not cheap and efficient everywhere believe me, there are still lots of shit buses in which you feel like cattle, and train can be expensive as hell (more than plane actually).
And wait, I'm sure you know Brazil has got the world's best bus network in Curitiba.
