They Are Everywhere - Arcade Shmup in development

Post by rychanwr3 »

Hiya Everybody.

I've been working on a retro shmup for a while and noticed the forum appear on twitter so I figured, hey, I'd best post some bits about my game so far "They Are Everywhere"

It's a 2d arena based shmup around giving the player limited movement to only N,E,S,W, no diagonal movements, which forces the player to have to consider the placement of their ship throughout the game. Most of the game si complete now, the endings have been written up and coded in. Just a few bugs and unlockable secret bits then it should be ready to go!

Let me know what you think of the demo video below. There are 26 levels including 6 unique boss levels and final Boss Rush.

Looks interesting and they certainly are everywhere  Feels slightly Asteroid~ish. Not sure about the restricted movement of the ship, though.

Thanks Stompp.

It's been more inspired from a combo of space invaders and robotron but I can see what you mean :)

As it was initially intended to be a mobile-only game and one of my frustrations with shmups on there was suddenly moving in a direction I hadn't intended, thanks to iffy touch controls I chose to simply remove the diagonal movement to increase the reliability of the controls.

I should additionally have a tiny competitive shmup released on the OUYA called Invasion VS out sometime next week. It's pretty minimalist and if it's recieved well on there I'll be porting it to mobile and putting free versions out for PC, etc shortly after.

Gotta love coding :D
