Dont know if any of you have played this game, but if looking at the description or watching the video intrigues you, Id highly recommend it. It has online leaderboards and coop.

Its fairly astounding in how much depth there is, how insanely fun and addictive it is, and how ridiculously hard it is. Simple concept (shoot stuff!), simple system (time=difficulty), add a lot of varied characters, items, enemies and bosses, and a set of maps for each level that rotate every time you play, and you get this depth that just sucks you in.
It actually plays best with an arcade stick, I have an 8 button madcatz and its pretty much perfect but I think a 6 button could work. Controllers are supported but I dont love the layout.
Add me on Steam if you want to play , Im still pretty new to this game and have yet to complete it, and Id also like to unlock more characters.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere before here. I've hosted many games, possibly over a hundred by now, pre and post artifact update. I'm pretty burnt out, but I will get back to it once the new update is released.
Like you said, it's a really simple game that still manages to be incredibly fun.
My favorite artifact loadout for multiplayer is Glass, Spite, Enigma, Sacrifice, and Origin. If I feel like turning the difficulty up to 11 I turn on Honor as well.

Played many many hours, but I haven't fired it up since they introduced the Artifacts ... I will definitely have to give it another spin.

Its been updated again. I will continue to argue that the game is massively underrated. Its tremendous fun both solo or coop. The variance can be high depending on item spawns though.
Re: Risk of Rain - PC/Steam Run n Gun Roguelike
Tried it, and it's a mess. The combat is too crowded and messy (there's a bigger challenge in trying to see what the fuck is going on rather than actually dodging, positioning and attacking properly).
The view is needlessly zoomed out and the maps are needlessly too large. Everything is just too big compared to your character, and that makes travelling very tiring.
The time = difficulty concept doesn't really suck me in either. If you go through the levels too fast, you're just underpowered and it becomes a memorization fest of "how long should I grind here before I can move on?" and that really pisses me off. It's a mechanic that is completely AGAINST new players.
The menus work with mouse, yet the rest of the game work with arrows + zxcv? come on. -__-
I just had much more fun with Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Maybe I'll force myself to play more Risk of Rain, but the first impression was absolutely disgusting, and that will sure as hell affect my final verdict, even if I love it after 500 hours. (And I've learned that making a good, easy and welcoming first impression for the player doesn't require any sacrifice from more advanced play)
Also rofl, the devs didn't bother to change the descriptions or icons for it? (for those who don't know, these are the basic gamemaker logos and descriptions, one of the first things you should get rid of when making a game... and it's already past greenlight and released!)

Great news from the team: http://hopooo.tumblr.com/post/160452455 ... en-working
I've probably put more hours into the Vita/PC versions than any other game over the last three years. I'm excited to see what Hopoo head to offer!

Heh, I agree with most of Cagar's impressions. There was some fun to be had here but I think you need a crew of friends to really enjoy this one. Solo games seem to take forever and I'm not a fan of cooldown mechanics + 2D action.
