This one of the most douchebag complaints I've seen in this thread. You could easily go the other way and mock this view by saying "hurr, games are obviously not art because interactive".

Let us be reminded that "what is art" is essentially the shittiest of all philosophical debates, so everyone should just remember it's in the eyes of the beholder and fuck off, okay?

Note, that I've never played The Last of Us, and I'm not a huge fan of Shadow of the Colossus, so don't think I'm just defending my favorite games or something.

The problem is that this people think videogames are art, but also that games with deep stories or abstract aesthetics are "more art" than things like racing games, fighting games, tetris or any arcade game.
They also told me that fighting games aren't even art because they are completelly mathematic (cause yomi and frame data...), and that "old games" should be considered as art just for being "old".
Call me douchebag if you want, but thinking that "some games" are more art than others is most naziest thing I've heard in my life.

I sat here for ten minutes and am still struggling to understand that logic behind that argument.

Let's switch to photography for a moment. Say one person likes the way the light is casting a shadow on an object, and decides to take it in black and white to further emphasize the contrast between light and dark. Nearby, a group of complete strangers are getting paid to get together for a few stock photographs. Are they both works of art just because they're both photographs? Don't like the stock photo analogy? How about a school picture, or a corporate photo, etc?

The point being that there are some games that are more works of art than they are games, and vice versa. There are also games that are pretty balanced in both areas.
