What is the most expensive shmup on console?
Darius Alpha PCE?
I mean people talk about RSG being $200+ but its nowhere near the cost of Darius Alpha... Is DA the creme de la creme of exotics?

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Darius Alpha is probably the most expensive, although it is a promo item and only consists of the boss rush mode of Darius Plus, as aventus said.
Blazing Star for Neo Geo AES should be the most expensive commercially released shmup for console, with a price range nearing that of Darius Alpha.
Actually, Twinkle Star Sprites Neo Geo AES should be around $700-$800 too, I think.

It's never hit 150,000 yen in recent years in Japan. Trader2 had one for months at about that price, and it never sold AFAIK. The ones on YJ actually didn't clear 100,000 for that matter. 1500 pounds? Sounds like someone got fucked -- bad.

Summer Carnival '92 - Recca, Famicom, Naxat, 1992GaijinPunch wrote:Recca? Can someone enlighten me?
Was the Caravan Shooting Competition game of 1992, together with Alzadick, PCE.
Often considered the best shooter for Famicom, both in terms of gameplay and its technical quality, by many STG enthusiasts. This reputation, as well as the release in limited numbers have led to the game's value increasing considerably on the collectors' market.
Really? I always thought the game was really only available through pre-order back when it was first released. Somewhere in the 3000-5000 copy range. Do you happen to know it's exact print run?Sapphire would rank up on the list, although definitely not as high as the Neo Geo games. It is, however, not only a commercial release, but a pretty mainstream one.

I don't know of the numbers of Sapphire, but I'm referring to the fact that it was pretty high budget -- famous character designer and all that shit. I always assumed the low number was due to a late release, although I must admit, I don't know the whole story.
