Hey Guys,

anyone tested one of those LCD's togther with the Framemeister at 50/60 Hz ?
I'm searching for a display with Pivot which displays even 50 Hz without any judder.
So far i've tested many Displays in the past but all of them can't handle 50 Hz in a satisfying way.
Any suggestions ?

Cheers

I'm curious about the Eizo EV2455 as well, no reviews around...

The Dell P2714H isn't very well balanced for an AD-PLS 1080p monitor and usually not recommended, the Samsung S27D390H & S27D590P perform better in that category, but with Spartan connectivity.
The LG 27MP75HM performs similarly well but with an AH-IPS (slightly less glow).

Xyga, thanks for the info on the P2714H, one off the list then. The NEC looks nice but the tech is early 2013 and a lot of reviewers have commented on high-pitched sound. Can't find LG monitors here in Norway.

I'm interested in that one since I've never owned a real glossy monitor, they say it greatly benefits clarity and colors.
I will snap some pics later tonight. My setup is in a very bright area of my house and the morning sunlight is dulling the photos.

I'm a little paranoid that I have my aspect ratio correct, since the last monitor I piped the 360 into was a XM29. I have the console set to 480p wide screen and Mushihimesama set to y zoom 100 and x zoom 200. I have letter boxing on either end, as I should, but it still looks kinda narrow coming from the xm29 and Astro City.

Can anyone confirm if those settings sound familiar?

If you want to know whether your aspect ratio is correct,
bust out a ruler and measure.
The ratio for 4:3 content should have the longer side 1/3 longer than the shorter side (obviously), i.e., 4:3.

If you're a PC gamer, I would wait just a little longer for some quality freesync/g-sync displays.

If it's a monitor mostly for console gaming and emulation then just listen to the other people in this thread. There's no (huge) tech jumps that's worth waiting for when it comes to consoles that are 1080p/60fps or less.

This should be a link to a mini album of S2715H shots:

Doesn't really do them justice. Zoom in on them if you can

Thanks a lot K-2 ! :D

I know it's hard to take faithful shots of a screen.
Recently I've tried to take pics of some pcb and consoles running on my tv through a scaler setup and out our maybe 50 pics only maybe 10 were 'watchable' lol.
The cheap old camera didn't help I guess.

I am really tempted by the S2715H, some people report the glossy screen despite the annoyance with reflections is a real pleasure in regards of clarity, perception of colors and blacks.
I only own VA panels at the moment and sometimes I miss the good sides of IPS (the 'natural colors' feeling and uniformity coupled with a slightly snappier and 'pop' of the overall picture) this Dell seems to be particularly good at that.

Does anybody have experience with the Overlord Tempest X270OC? There are a few potential downsides (no motion strobing is one) but otherwise it looks like this one has found instant cult status.

Personally I am not sure I'm ready for it - DPS is a bit high and it also seems like it loses a bit of physical screen real estate over my 16:10 27" screen, but maybe I'm wrong there.

The other major downside is the lack of a pixel perfect guarantee - given the panels are "A grade" instead of A+ grade.

Oh I see, the LG W2600HP-BF I guess ? One of the first really interesting 'large' LCD monitors IIRC.
Treasure it !
They don't do 16:10 in this size anymore, only 24" or 30", and the big ones kind of suck for games.

Nope, Planar 2611w.

Noticed a wee bit of uniformity issue, and the major problems are blur, "only" 60Hz, and flickering that the phase adjustment doesn't quite fix.

Still pretty good for its time, I agree.

I realize that even moving to 16:9, the 27" will gain just a bit of that lost real estate back. Not really looking forward to a DPI increase though.

Maybe I should just wait and see what the year brings in IPS panels. The Overlord panel is old tech by now, and the only thing it really has going for it is a custom controller board and G-Sync - other than that it's a completely standard IPS monitor, albeit one using a good panel.

What bothers me with those 'Korean single-input 1440 IPS' is the lack of support for lower resolutions, which means no consoles nor even video processors will work, it's PC-only.
I personally don't care about higher refresh rates, and the IPS panels those are equipped with aren't worse than the current, maybe just lacking proper RTC control and that's it.
Otherwise the risks are the same as with Name Brand ones (dead pixels, BLB, etc).
If you get a perfectly fine unit with no manufacturing flaws, once overclocked to 96Hz/120Hz you probably won't care about the maybe slightly inferior pixel response times (compared to the market's current optimum IPSes).
For a PC-only and with that pricing the 'Koreans' are certainly very attractive.

Or just wait for the AUO 144Hz IPS (AHVA).
