Hello,
I tried searching but couldn't find a definite answer in the slg3000 thread. I've read a couple times via you guys that emulated scanlines don't scale evenly on 768p displays. I was wondering if hardware generated scanlines like those produced by the slg3000 and the slg-hd fare any better. I know these devices take 1024x768 inputs, but wasn't sure if they would output even scanlines on a display with a native res of 1024 or 1366 by 768. Also would there be any difference if they were used with an HD CRT that upscales 720p and 768p to 1080i?
And a third question, do 600p displays have the same problem? Is it all displays with vertical resolutions that aren't multiples of 240 that have this problem? Or can it be a multiple of 120?
Thanks
Even scanlines on 768p

Re: Even scanlines on 768p
You can feed 768p to a SLG3000 and you will get even scanlines, but you get too many. You would get 384 horizontal lines, which would look nice on a Model 2 or Model 3 emu (which both run internally at 384p/24khz), but it won't look good on anything with a native resolution of 240p or slightly lower.
In order to get proper scanlines from low-res 15khz titles you have to feed 480p, then add scanlines and have that result upscaled to your target resolution. And this where most displays fail.
And regarding a HD CRT: I doubt that 720p on the input side get converted to 1080i/540p.
The higher the native resolution of your display the better are your chances that a scanlined 480p gets properly upscaled.

Re: Even scanlines on 768p
I see thanks for your reply. I was under the assumption that the last generation of non-monitor HD CRTs (Sony's hi-scans, and super fines; Samsung slimfits) scaled everything to either 480p or 1080i.
Also I asked about 600p, because I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using generated/emulated scanlines on a 800x600 projector.

you should be agle to get correct scanlines if you dont scale to full screen.
just a thought, never tried it though.
