Hi
Here's the scenario. I have a PAL PS2 (with modchip) hooked up to a XRGB-Mini through component (D5 Port). (Yes YPbPr is selected on console)
Then the XRGB is connected to HD PVR 2 followed by the TV.
When i run PAL games this setup works fine (at least the games i have tried, latest being Silent Hill)
(Here's where the problems start)
Now i have a couple of imports and the game i currently wanna play is Parasite Eve(NTSC).
When booting the game i can see the start up meny, followed by a the ps1 logo.
Then everything turns blue and i just get sound.
This is still prominent even when removing the HD PVR.
Same problem still occurs with Shadow Tower a Japanese title.
I only get sound and the blue screen of the xrgb, i can access the settings just fine.
Now i'd figured i would remove the xrgb altogether, and just go with ps2 -> component to TV.
But the composite input on my TV is pretty though to reach.
Because the TV's mounted on the wall.
So in order to plug it in i'd have to take it down.
Which would be pretty troublesome with the current wall-mount.
Nor do i have a simple composite to HDMI (Was sorta counting on xrgb to do that)
So i can't really eliminate the xrgb, and why would i if we can get it to work?
Now using a Scart RGB cable with the same setup (Switching back to RGB on the console)
I get sound and picture. But the picture just scrolls rapidly across the screen.
Making it though to make out anything. (This is feed through the front of the XRGB's "RGB IN")
And lastly using the PS2's original composite cables.
Hooked up through the xrgb's "AV in".
This works best so far, the screen still scrolls but way slower.
This setup without the XRGB worked on my older LCD screen.
But the new TV i currently have does not have "AV in".
So i can't simply bypass the use of the XRGB-Mini there.
SO, PAL Games seems fine on most setups, but i wanna play/capture some of the games we didn't get here.
Does the xrgb have problems reading a 60hz games from a PAL ps2 or what do you thing causes this problem?
I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the XRGB itself and not the console or HD PVR.
But what do you think?
Is there any settings on the unit itself that has to be changed when playing imports?
Sorry for the long post but was trying to make it thorough, maybe you guys can help out?
Thanks

Re: PS 2 - XRGB Problem (PS1 games)
Yes, well, more accurately it's your display/capture device. The problem is the timing crystal in your PS2 is set for PAL games, when you force it to 60hz it's off spec, too far off spec for your setup so it seems. I get white lines/streaks across the picture when I run NTSC games on my PAL console.Does the xrgb have problems reading a 60hz games from a PAL ps2
You can try setting sync mode to Off on the menu. You will find that there's some stutter when scrolling an image/game but it should work better.

Has anyone found a way around this stutter? Is it even possible to fix? It's less noticeable with 3D games compared to 2D side scrollers but can still be annoying.BuckoA51 wrote:You can try setting sync mode to Off on the menu. Turning it off also increases lag doesn't it?

Apart from changing to a different monitor that's more tolerant, I don't think there is a way around it. I don't know if setting sync mode to off affects lag but I can't imagine it helps.

Re: PS 2 - XRGB Problem (PS1 games)
Thanks for the input
I was kinda hoping it would only be a matter of flipping a switch, but it seems more complicated then that.
I'll try to tinker with the sync mode, even if it's not perfect.
Kinda sucks though, modded the console to play/capture imports.
I should have used that money to just import a console instead.
Update:
I managed to sniff out a modded PS1 console.
So i figured i'd try it just for the heck of it.
Hooked it up through a Scart RGB cable followed by XRGB -> HD PVR.
To my supprise it worked fine. No scrolling of picture at all.
So yeah maybe the ps1 is better at forcing 60hz?
idk, but i'd figured i'd let everyone know at least.
