Beware of play-asia for today at least!

Post by system11 »

Ok, this is very likely an isolated incident, but it just as easily might not be. I'll update here when I get word from them.

I just logged into my account, to find a whole list of things I've never even looked at in my shopping basket. At the same time, logging in is setting a Japanese language cookie in my browser. This is very, very worrying.

I just pre-ordered a game at their site. The pages seems normal to me.

Believe me that could be a cookie problem with your internet browser.
Are you using the same computer you used to shop at Play-Asia previously? Or were you just browsing a Japanese website before you open Play-Asia's pages? Have you changed the lanuage settings of you computer to Japanese to play some Dojin game?

Well, they say there's no problem they can see...

I'm guessing a session cookie got issued twice for some reason. Same computer used last time, not a shared machine, not visited any other sites - just magically changed. Then later, stuff I expected to see reappeared in my cart....

Well the internet is not as error free as we would expact.

I got paid someone with twice with PayPal due to computer error. Luckly the seller refund me the extra payment a few days after.

No problems here either... 'cept for a certain amount of reluctance from customer support when I was haggling for a marked down invoice on my 'Under Defeat' L.E. order. Hope it's all okay now though or else that $5 coupon won't help much.

"Weird?...Yeah, that's what it is...weird..."

Huh. Just logged in myself there, and had no problems. The only slight error was that they couldn't send me an email confirmation of my Under Defeat preorder, but the last couple of emails from them came in just fine. Hopefully this was just an isolated glitch in your case, bf.

I haven't had any issues either. They are using Apache/PHP w/SSL too so I wouldn't expect any issues.

Did you try deleting your play-asia cookies, shutting down your browser (kill the explorer.exe/iexplorer.exe processes through task manager afterwards too), and restarting it?

No problems today, though I'm a bit annoyed with them atm. I ordered a PS1 console, and it took them over 2 months to tell me that their supplier is out of stock. I had something else on the order and they wouldn't transfer the $5 coupon to that item (because it was just under $50). I thought that was a bit weak not to do so after I waited so patiently, and had to email them several times. I'm planning on switching to NCSX for my next orders.

I use Firefox on Linux, but yeah - cleared the cookies - each time this resulted in the correct language - but logging back in would set it to Japanese. I'm convinced that for whatever reason, they've handed out the same session cookie ID twice. It just cleaned itself up....

I gotta stop looking at their UMD pr0n... or at least look at more other things while logged in so I can push the naughties out of my "recently browsed" stack...

What's funnier is the bar on the right side, that recommends an item that might interest... and it was a JAV for me once. Nyaha, yeah I already bought that one, show me something else :p

My PA Account seems ok. I ordered Steel Empire GBA earlier in the month and that worked out fine.
