Castle Shikigami games
Re: Castle Shikigami games
I wish there was a Shikigami no Shiro IV, though. I don't wanna end the series with Kohtaro being distraught over Tsukiko and being consoled by Sayo.

It's for the best. The real Tsukiko is either dead or still in a hospital somewhere. Probably dead.xxx1993 wrote:I wish there was a Shikigami no Shiro IV, though. I don't wanna end the series with Kohtaro being distraught over Tsukiko and being consoled by Sayo.
Let him be happy with Sayo.
Or Fumiko, that works too.

Re: Castle Shikigami games
Why not just tie up loose ends and give Kohtaro a satisfying ending? Throw the dog a bone? I mean, if anything, though, the ending of a fourth possible game could have Tsukiko reuniting with Kohtaro and Sayo at the hospital.

It's not like Sayo is a bad match.xxx1993 wrote:Why not just tie up loose ends and give Kohtaro a satisfying ending? Throw the dog a bone? I mean, if anything, though, the ending of a fourth possible game could have Tsukiko reuniting with Kohtaro and Sayo at the hospital.
But if you really want Tsukiko for him, check out the visual novel.

She has a big role in it.

I saw parts of the visual novel. I heard it's like an interquel that takes place between II and III, right? And doesn't Kohtaro talk to the player at one point?

Re: Castle Shikigami games
Shiki III has some interesting scoring when you exchange bombs for high-tension mode. Transform bombs into tension for big scores -> get enough points for extra life -> suicide -> repeat. The early stages are quite fun when played this way, but yea later on it's tough enough that I go back to pure survival.

A series tradition! Stage 3 is always some kind of crazy obstacle course.Keith wrote:Nope, we're talking Ikaruga stage hazards.

heli wrote:Why is milestone director in prison ?, are his game to difficult ?
Re: Castle Shikigami games
The problem is that those obstacles are everywhere, yet you don't know it. You just have to shoot the lights to see the obstacles. It kinda reminds me of Stage 3 of Ikaruga, a hard enough stage for me. But the idea of hidden obstacles? Kinda like playing Resident Evil 6 blindfolded or something.

I can not wait to get to that part of the game. Last I played it, some guys started shooting at New Characters 1 & 2.xxx1993 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVXZ24tn8eo This is where I thought Kohtaro was talking to the player. I know he said something about a shooting game...

Treasure put lots of work into the story of their shmups, minimalist approach aside.Strikers1945guy wrote:Haha. Seriously though plot and story are not needed for shmups...professor ganson wrote:Are we still talking plotlines?Special World wrote:played some shiki 3 today

Well the "plot" of the Shikigami games were always nonsensical to begin with.

It is downright terrifying how much backstory there is in the Alfa System universe. Someone at another MB translated one of their Ultimania guides, and it was just a deluge of text. Somehow it all ties into Elemental Gearbolt and Gunparade March.Magma Dragoon wrote:Well the "plot" of the Shikigami games were always nonsensical to begin with.

New Characters 1 & 2? Do you mean May and Takayuki (I think that's their names)?cj iwakura wrote:I can not wait to get to that part of the game. Ah, yes. I don't know much about those two, but I do know their names. What is their role in Nanayozuki Gensoukyoku anyway?

Lol was playing Shiki 2 yesterday and managed to miss that as the mechanic for the boss.AntiFritz wrote:Shiki 2 has a boss where you play connect four to win. CONNECT FOUR. It will always be the best of the three for this.
Regarding recommendations: I have Mobile Light Force via psn for the Vita and the translation loses the insanity of the original and somehow the game's lack of bat shit insane storyline makes it far worse. On the other hand the Japanese gamecube release of Shiki 2 is phenomenal. I haven't played 3 yet, but I am loving 2 with the Witch. The way the bullet waves actually kinda resemble waves, the witches slightly inaccurate gestural shots, the special abilitiy that hoses bosses, its all good.

Fumiko's in 3 as well.
