Sony Trinitron WEGA KV-29SE10 in Service Mode

Post by nick_arrow »

Hi!

I got me a new CRT TV - A Sony Trinitron WEGA. I'm very satisfied with it except there is one thing I want to adjust.
The right screen seems to be cut off, while the left screen should be adjusted more to the left.

MY CRT TV is PAL, and my NES is NTSC, I'm using composite cables.
I have managed to get in to the service menu and tried some adjustments but it never seems to be any difference!!
It's like the settings only take place on the ordinary TV Channels, not my AV channels.
What could be wrong? Do any of you have adjust any Sony Trinitron WEGA in the service menu?
I would like to have some advice according to the settings because I'm a little lost.

I could upload a picture of how my TV screen looks like when playing, but I don't know how to attach pictures on this forum..

I do appreciate all help!

Greetings,
Niklas

Not sure if it’s the same on PAL and NTSC wega/trinitron TVs, but what you want to adjust is likely a combination of the following:

VSIZ (vertical size)
HSIZ (horizontal size)
VPOS (vertical position)
HPOS (horizontal position)

You’ll need to save the adjustments you make, try MUTE then ENTER.
I hope this works out for you, let us know how it goes.

Hi there!

I have tried these types of settings you mentioned the most.

I also hit MUTE and ENTER but there seems not to be any change
when I change to AV channel on my NES screen.... :?

It would had been a lot easier if you could make adjustments while you're
in the AV channel, is that possible by the way??

The thing is that the settings do saves, but only on the ordinary TV channel,
not my AV/RGB channels..Very strange.

Thanks!

Then it probably has something to do with using a non-PAL console on your PAL TV. Very strange that the adjustments don’t affect your AV input. Someone in the EU want to chime in, I’m at a loss.

Here's the service manual: http://j.mdownload1.free.fr/Schemas/Son ... X1L%5D.pdf. Judging by the table it appears that the TV stores seperate settings for 50/60 Hz, try switching to 60 Hz settings in the menu.

Ok Xan!

I can't see any specific settings for 60 Hz but in one of the menus in service menu called SYNC and YC looks like it has to do something with PAL/NTSC/SECAM settings.

What exactly happens if you restore the TV to factory default setting?
I have checked in the manual, it says 8 and then ENTER but nothing really happened..

I tried my best with the NES setting and I may have got something going but I don't know.

I tried my Playstation 1 that has RGB Scart. I tried to adjust the screen in the service mode
but there were only the the 4:3 screen I could adjust when I was in the service menu.
I want to adjust the screen when I had the 16:9 screen but the TV won't let me change.
How come??? Does this mean I don't can't reach the service mode in 16:9 mode when I
play all consoles who uses RGB Scart?
