What would you recommend? My 32 inch grey Sony Wega from 2005 needs some sort of stabilizing support (for eye-level TATE play), otherwise the way it's angled I'd need to sit on some high above bar stool (not the worst, but I still prefer sitting comfortably on a couch and having the screen at eye level with my back supported).
If memory serves fagin's response through those comments was that it didn't matter. IMO you probably could get away with just throwing a beanbag under it, so long as the side *and top vents* (which will now be a side vent) are totally uncovered. If not then you may need to arrange something that is stable but also lets air in through the bottom, like a metal or wooden frame / basket. I'm also not sure how well a set that large will take to being on its side all the time, and I recall somebody recently reported tipping their set back and forth from portrait to landscape and back, and eventually breaking it. And that wasn't a 32". Might even have been one of the PVMs.

Of course age is the primary determinant of how good something is, followed by perhaps specific XBR models (but of course an older XBR has time working against it). In terms of generations, maybe it's two or three generations from the newest (c. 1998 or thereabouts). Have a look at the service manual:

IMO I wouldn't worry about it unless you can find something better. Even if you don't have a lot of hours on it, I'd say it's worth looking for a ready backup. I wouldn't really mess with anything older than about 2004 however.
The best chassis are probably the BA-6 and whatever the top XBR models have from this time.
