Holy &$#@! crap. (rant)

There's an alarm going off here on the corner of my apartment complex every 90 seconds, and then cuts off. It's been like this for the past 2 hours. If that thing doesn't shut off, I won't be able to sleep, if I can't sleep I'll have to miss work (Which I really can't, because I only have half a point left, and I need 1 full point to take one day off without getting fired), so it's either that or working in a zombie-like state for the rest of the day.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Though cutting off the power to that horn might do the trick.

It's called "disturbing the peace". They are technically breaking the law. Just keeping bugging the cops to do their job. Other than that, go ring your neighbors doorbell and tell them to turn the fucking thing off. That's what I'd do.

The sound of alarms can be cool! Like when I cruise by with my Chevelle and I set off car alarms...not on purpose, but the car is set up with "drag racing" style exhaust; so its loud with power.
Shit that keeps you awake for hours isn't cool however. I would report it.
Although, there are ways to drown out little sounds that in the dead of night become annoying.
Try using a fan, or AC unit. These things feature the sound of moving/rushing air, which is great to sleep to. PLus, they drown out little annoying sounds.
I'm a light sleeper, and a fan must always be running for me. If I can hear a pin drop, I cannot sleep.
You could always use a stereo or radio to deaden "other" unwanted sounds.

Call your landlord.

Ok. Pinpointed the problem. Fudging budget suites of America down the block. A cheap heater or alarm is going off giving that sound that echoes and gets amplified by the buildings around me, so it's like having a foghorn or a submarine alarm going off every 90 seconds. Spoke with the concierge there, say they don't have anyone on duty to fix it. I'm calling the police in five minutes.

Oh...guess I'm used to that shit.
I only live about 7 houses and one street away from a freight train with crossings!!!
And some faggot neighbor called the cops on me because I started my car in my garage from 9:30 to 10:00pm!
Train goes by and switches during the day, but mostly at night.
Even right now as I type...CCCRACK/BOOOOM. Yea, 2:30 AM(morning)

BTW: What kind of cars are they?
Earplugs
I mean, everyone goes, "EEEUGH THINGS IN ME EARS" when I suggest it, but I absolutely *hated* them when I started working night shift... and yet now that I've been using them for two years solid, they're virtually a requirement. Block a good majority of intrusive noise, short of idiot kids slamming balls against the wall like at the last apartment

Thanks for the earplug suggestion. I'm kinda used to my Sony and Etymotic in-ear phones, so that might work. What really pisses me off is the unwilingness of the managers of that complex to fix that annoyance. I'll have a word with them tonight. (Good thing I might be moving out next month).

Maybe you should find the perp/s and return the favor...but instead of bashing in their windshield, bash their forhead in real good instead.circuitface wrote:I've had problems at my complex too. Someone busted the windshield out of my car with a baseball bat a couple days ago.
Also, moving back home sounds like it could be the best thing for you.
Seems your experienceing only the darker sides of large US cities.
Phoenix has its share of weirdo's/tweekers/freaks/thieves,etc,etc.
But they are everywhere. Some cities though seem to have an over-abundance.
