What did you do this evening?

Post by Astraea FGA Mk. I »

Since I am in the right sort of mood I will make a proper topic for the first time. I will keep it simple.

Did you go out this evening? Did you do something? Post it here. I don't care if you saved someone's life in a car accident or attended a KKK meeting. post your experience here.
Staying in your bedroom, playing shmups and then masturbating and falling asleep doesn't count. I know from experience that this can be a good night but we are talking about putting yourself out there.

This evening I went to my local games workshop to watch nerds play warhammer ( I am a nerd so I can say nerd). I can beat all of them, they are newbs but they are having fun. I will bring an army that is the opposite of a well thought out and capable army so if I win I can feel good.

PLEASE. Post your experiences. The criteria is that you left your home to do something special.

I used a boat to cross the lake of the dead and enter a flooded abandoned Japanese temple where I saved my friend from a suicide curse using the power of photography. Then I ate some shitty microwaved food and went to bed.

Most I did today was work on a project for my Database Structures class [still doing that right now] and play some fighting games with my friends [anyone know if there's a SF2CE hack that's like Rainbow where you can do any special move in mid-air but doesn't otherwise change their properties? We had fun with Rainbow, but it pretty much comes down to some really, really, really stupid bullshit with the homing projectiles. Man, if air-blocking was possible, that'd be great too, hah. Would be a bit more work for a proper air-block system where ground->air can't be blocked, though].

might have gone drinking with some friends if I didn't have a project due at midnight
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Sounds like a fun day 8)

Nothing special for me today - just studied for most of the day and played some piano a while ago (been taking lessons for about 3 months now). Tomorrow I'm going out for pizza with a few girls though, that should be interesting.

Sat in a car driving back from a brief excursion to Liuzhou. Took about 4 hours. We stopped at a rest stop where I bought an iced Hazlenut latte from Pappa Gourmet and it was terrible. Back in Nanning we went to Zhong San road at 11pm for late night food that consisted of barbecue and lime juice.

Fixed a Smith & Wesson 6904 that a customer brought in. It would not eject spent cases because, as it turns out, it was missing the ejector. I'm guessing he tried taking it apart himself and got in over his head. I also cleaned my Walther P99c.

Fun stuff.

I took my son to a surprisingly enjoyable NHL preseason game, came home to do dishes and a bit of work. I fast forwarded through a baseball playoff game, and now it's bedtime.

But the major topic here is that you are going out with a bunch of Brazilian girls :o

I simply can't compete with that level of awesomeness, so I won't.

Went out with my gf to meet one of her friends who came down from Delhi for a few days. Its the one of the bigger festivals right now (Dushera/Durga Puja), so we went to a few congregations (its usually a field with stalls set up for food, and a main venue with the idols). at some good calcutta style street food and lots of pretty girls to ogle (just not long enough for the gf to catch :D).

the friend came back home with us, interestingly he is a gamer and plays fighters and FPS's. So, i ended up showing off the 360 setup, the PS2 setup (hardly works though coz of a dying lens), and the mame setup (includes homemade stick). he looked at SDOJ and said "Oh, 1942 type games". I proceeded to show off a flawless stage 1, then let him play on novice, he did manage to get to stage 2. Then we played Hard Corps Uprising, which he liked. Played some KOF98 too, which he digged.

also turns out he is a aspiring amateur musician learning how to mix, and blew quite a lot of money for some proprietary software. Showed him the opensource stuff available, and where to get free vsts and patches.

So all in all, quite a event full evening. Probably going out this saturday too.

Drank scotch with my gracious host and a friend, and talked about cocks, mainly from a medical standpoint. One was a doctor, so it was okay.

Went for dinner and then to the arcade where we found Captain Commando with 9 free credits. That got my girlfriend and I to the last boss, who reminded me what a Capcock he is.

Never liked the game much. Still don't.

I changed my mind, post anything you did, no matter how mundane. Without the boring and uninspired experiences we would never have exciting and meaningful experiences.
Kind of like my life. A never ending sequence of highs and lows and it is fantastic. Someone can only become their best if they have experienced their worst.

Yesterday I sort of did what I described in the opening post, but instead of shmups I was building Dark Elves.

I studied for a hour or two, went to the gym for another hour, had dinner, played some DOTA 2, and then tried out the copy of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax I got in the mail today.
Pretty good evening, although I'm a little pissed I missed an easy point (out of 10) on my online homework (partially my professor's fault for giving me wrong info in class, partially my own fault for not double checking before rushing through :/ ) Got 107% on my last test, so no big deal for now I guess.

Tomorrow will probably be pretty much the same, although I'm heading over to a friend's house in the morning for Dungeons and Dragons.
Actually I don't really do much of anything besides study and play video games to be honest. I'm not really an extrovert.

Me and my GF spent the evening at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe where they do all sorts of redneck racing every Saturday night. This was one of their special nights where they had all their fun stuff, including 2 classes of figure 8 racers, a drifting exhibition, a race of junk cars, an exploding car stunt, a truck demo derby, and finally fireworks to top it all off. The highlight of the night would be the boat race though. And by "boat race" they mean that they chained up junky old boats to the back of some of the junk racecars and had them go around the figure 8 track, with the winner being the last one to have their boat still attached. And yes, it was just as ridiculous as it sounds. All in all, it made for a fine evening of lowbrow entertainment.

This should give you an idea:

went grocery shopping, and it started pouring. so decided to "fuck it", and walked back home in the rain. reached home half wet, figured why not do the whole thing. changed and went up to the terrace, took a nice long soak in the rain amidst some spectacular lightning. felt awesome, then lightning started striking closer to home, got shit scared, came back down and dried off.

Went to Avenue Q with a friend and had dinner after. Dinner at 10:30 PM is fantatic, I think I'll add to to my usual schedule.

I saw that show for the first time last year when it came to my city. I had vowed to see it when I first knew of it about 7 years ago. And they're coming again this year, I will see it again for sure! It's funny how the Internet song in particular is still relevant in its original form after all these years. Hell, all of the songs are still pretty relevant.

Tonight I just finished a first complete draft of my graduate thesis and sent it off to my supervisor for a look - had bits and pieces before but this is the first time everything was put together nicely typeset. If I was a smoker, I would have a long one right now.

And for the rest of the evening I still need to put together a marking key for tomorrow's midterm exam and last Friday's assignment but instead I am wasting time here.

I had the pleasure of riding my friend's e-bike across the city. Apparently her skirt was too short to drive up front (doesn't seem to bother anyone else) so I got to do the honours. I really enjoy taking the e-bikes for a spin. I'd buy one but I'm not comfortable driving on my own on the roads here (it's way less daunting with a navigator sitting behind).

Loads of fun and it was a beautiful evening. The sun was going down, the sky a stunning yellowy orange behind the neon lit buildings, the air still warm enough for a T-shirt. Went through the city, down the main avenue, and took a wrong turn that lead us across the bridge at nightfall to Jiangnan (Gangnam) and back around again to the second centre in pursuit of pizza, and then to Double Game arcade, which is an ancient, decaying, wonderfully run-down place that's shortly moving location after 20 years of operation. The owners said I could take photos to document it and kindly switched on all the machines (if I don't show my friends a game centre operating in 2014 that's lined with KOF '98 cabs, they just won't believe me) and I snapped every inch of it. Good times.

Played some Hyrule Warriors, drank scotch, watched some Twin Peaks, more scotch, jacked it, and now I'm debating what to do with the rest of my evening. Probably a tad more scotch, and possibly a little more jacking it. All depends on where my fickle muse leads me.
