And here I start up

Shatterhand - 3623200 - 4 - 59 - 198 - Blue Appli-Blue Cotton-Red Cotton

Now I dunno, maybe people would be interested in individual stage scores too? And maybe individual MAX CHAIN and MAX HIT too?

Out of curiosity

My Max Chain is 91 at stage 2
My Max Hit is 232 at stage 2

My best score in stage 1 is 1164100
My best score in stage 2 is 1416800
My best score in stage 3 is 811000
My best score in stage 4 is 429700

You can access all this info at the RANKING screen (At least in the Saturn version, dunno about the PCB)

Usually when I reach stage 4 I drop the pretensions, forget the score and just try to survive. The boss is always my dying point.

Quick suggestion: instead of using "colors" to describe which Cotton/Appli you're using (I'm not sure whether you're referring to clothing, hair, etc.), maybe it'd be easier to use their innate element as a point of reference, since each character has a fire, ice, and wind "version" of herself selectable. You could even use abbreviations to save space ("CF" for "Cotton Fire," "AI" for "Appli Ice," etc.) if you wanted. Just an idea; I'll try to submit a (lousy) score here soon. :)

Yes, I think that's a good idea.. I'll do that. I was using the color of the name in the selection screen.

I thought the ICE element actually was WATER, hehe :D

I'd hafta look again to be sure, but I think the name color might actually correspond to the char's element (red=fire, blue=ice, green=wind)...in any case, I personally think just naming the element would be simplest, but again, that's just me.

Well, if you want to get technical about it, it IS water...just cold. ;)

EDIT: Also, just to get the technical stuff out of the way, you might want to mention in the initial post as to what option settings you'd need ("Normal" difficulty, etc.), and whether or not certain button settings or whatnot are allowed...just to be thorough.

Yes , I am pretty sure the color of the name in the character selection DO correspond to its element. Silk and Needle both has the name in white.

I just stated in the 1st post that all settings should be default, and you could map the xyzlr buttons the way you want it.

But anyway, maybe I should check what the defaults are and just post there.

Well, I broke 3 mil...

BulletMagnet - 3,250,500 - 5 - 125 - 17 - AF/AI/CF

That fifth stage just kills me though...I've managed to one-life and no-bomb up to the 4th boss several times (and probably could one-life him too, if I wasn't so darn stingy with bombs), but even so I never last long on Stage 5.

OOpps, now you are getting dangerously close to me... I need to get better.

There's any technique for that 4th boss? I keep dying on him.

I notice he changes the bullet patterns too quickly. I am still looking at one, and suddenly there's another different one on screen, and I only notice when I am already dead :)

Now, are you sure your max hit was only 17? that's so low!

Hey Shatterhand,
Unfortunatelly I don't have this, so I can't join your highscore table.

But I have put it into another form, if you like it you can hit the quote button on my post. ;)

You will NEVER take my coveted bottom spot! NEVER, do you hear?
There's any technique for that 4th boss? I keep dying on him.
One that someone mentioned sometime back was to aim for his head as much as possible, so you weaken him some before you break either of those orbs he holds...once one or both of them is gone he gets nastier. In any case, since the head is such a small weak spot, you'll probably unintentionally hit the orbs a lot anyway.
Now, are you sure your max hit was only 17? that's so low!
Yep, that was all...I focused mainly on chaining for that run (whenever I play as Needle or Silk I focus mainly on "hitting," since they can't shoot when they're carrying something). I think I confused Edge when he made his table, since my "hit" and "chain" scores look backwards, but in fact they're not.

I would never expect any new posts on this thread! :)

That's one of the reasons why I love this game, there are dozens of different scoring strategies, most of them are useful, and you can try all of them at the same time :)

Heh, this is indeed an unexpected bit of thread necromancy...made even more eerie by the fact that a pair of Cotton promo teacups I impulse-bought off of eBay came in the mail today.

A sign that I should take this game up again, perhaps? :)

EDIT: Nice, Cotton Boomerang representin' on your Top 25 vote! Good man! :D

I think it always had a spot at every top 25 I ever made here :)

I haven't played it for ages though. My Sega Saturn is hooked up on my older TV, but I haven't played it a lot lately.
