There's some links to the latest versions here http://www.whiper.com/mame/

I would strongly recommend Mame 32 v102 - but you will have to sign up with Fileplanet (easy done).

I dunno if you've been keeping up with MAME but the selection of playable shmups is very impressive now.

You might also want a frontend, there's a list of them here:

As i said, i would get Mame 32 . . .if not then any binary version.

fi net and com are all just mirrors for the same download.

yep, i am very impressed - i can play Esp.ra.de, Progear, Cyvern, Guwange in the comfort of my own home, for FREEE (almost as good as actually owning a cab/pcbs but much much cheaper)

I say it is ALMOST as good as owning the true arcade versions as i have connected my computer via s-video to a 25" SONY TRINITRON tv in permanent tate mode :D i also have a Hori Real Arcade Pro joystick (real sanwa build quality) connected via usb

There are minor sound glitches here and there, but not really many at all considering

"well chuffed"[/i]

btw i am planning on joining in next weeks online shmupmeet - anyone have any clue which game is to be nominated??

Space Bomber is in the lead, but Strikers 1945+ and Gunbird are close behind it. :)

you can vote for the next week game here:

http://forum.shmups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6718

But you can already play viewpoint this week, if you want to.
