Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I'm on the fence whether to get one or not. MK8 looks cool.
I saw a Zelda video online which looked good.
Any thoughts? I've had my PS4 since launch and i've not played anything on it yet.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I've been considering getting one as my christmas gift to myself now that Bayonetta 2 is soon out, and I do want to play Hyrule Warriors. But at the same time only two games (well, there's the eventual Zelda, but who knows when that'll come out) makes it a bit hard to justify a console purchase.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself

You bought a PS4 and haven't played it, so naturally you're looking to get another console ...
[/dickmode]
OT though, I'm waiting for the new Xenoblade X or whatever it's going to be called. Not terribly interested in Mario Kart or Smash Bros, but other first-party stuff from Ninty is always good (SM3DW, NSMBU & Pikmin). Really hoping for a new Paper Mario or some other Intelligent Systems RPG-ish game as well.
I would also play Shovel Knight, and possibly MH3U.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
No. I'm scared I buy a EU Wii U and a US exclusive game I want gets released or I buy a US Wii U and a EU exclusive game I want gets released.
Wii U needs some pretty good games to get over those fears and so far it hasn't gotten any. That and the at least partially interesting games are really expensive. The Wii U itself might not be expensive, but when the only interesting games for it are first party titles that will never drop below 60$, it's still a lot of money.
Most of my budget's still going to 3DS/Vita stuff and Wii U is not changing that anytime soon.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
Well it has more exclusives of interest than any of the other new consoles (not hard, anything greater than zero tops them) but nowhere near enough games to warrant the investment. Unless the price dips well below £200, xmas is way too soon for me, Mario aside it's just Bayonetta that interests me this year then it looks like the games are FINALLY coming in 2015... 2.5 years after launch.
Not sure if it'll last much longer, with zero third party support it's relying on exclusives to keep it going. And, well, in 2.5 years they haven't even mustered many of those. Just relying on the hype machine for a couple of titles, is that really enough?

I will possibly get one whenever there will be a good (i.e. by Retro Studios) Metroid game. Otherwise I'll pass.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I had no idea that any of the games I wanted were late 2014 early 2015 releases. Leading up to PS4's launch were videos of many titles which are still not out yet. I'll definitely be scrutinizing any future launches in more depth than I did with the PS4.You bought a PS4 and haven't played it, so naturally you're looking to get another console ...![]()
I have got Need for speed since it was the only thing that appealed at launch, but when I played it, it felt like the PS3 Hot pursuit game which I played over 100 hours of. I was just bored playing it any further for the better graphics and slightly tweaked gameplay.
I just saw Zelda and MK8 on youtube and it made me feel fuzzy inside. I hate the Wii U hardware though, at least that controller.
and lastly, no need to bleed haste in this thread.. its a Xmas thread afterall.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
Besides the Wii and it's myriad of shovelware, Nintendo really hasn't had good 3rd party support since the N64 days, most of the good titles on Nintendo hardware comes from Nintendo themselves, with the occasional hit from other devs here and there.TransatlanticFoe wrote:Well it has more exclusives of interest than any of the other new consoles (not hard, anything greater than zero tops them) but nowhere near enough games to warrant the investment. That said, I have no regrets with my Wii U purchase. Got it with MK8 and just picked up Hyrule Warriors and have been having a lot of fun with it. Looking forward to the new Xenoblade, Bayonetta, and a lot of Nintendo's titles coming down the line.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
There is only one game that I wouldn't mind playing on the platform and that's Zombie U other than that there isn't anything on the platform that's making me want to go out and spend £250 for one.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
There are a handful of titles on it that I wouldn't mind trying out, but my backlog from the previous generation (and the one before that, and the one before that, and...) is already ridiculous, so I'm in no hurry.
Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
In all likelihood I will not be a Wii-U owner by Christmas (if ever) - so far my interest in anything Wii-U is even barely "casual" (same for the Xbox One/PS4).
That being said there is one announced game that has the potential to change my mind: Fast Racing Neo.

Given that there is plenty of room for disappointment nothing is going to change until after the game's release. However I'm not going to let my past disinterest/opinion about the Wii-U get in the way of enjoying Fast Racing Neo provided that the game achieves its potential. Admittedly I would prefer something like this on the PS4 given that the demise of SCE Studio Liverpool probably killed the WipEout series. But it should always be about the game(s), not the console(s).

Then the title Formula Fusion from ex-WipEout developers may be of interest to you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... Not on my holiday list. Just not interested in the console, I really think the 3DS is the better option once the New 3DS hits the market.

I really enjoy mine, lots of stuff out there, and a few upcoming. Simple, colorful- it's a nice break from some of the other consoles.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
Man, I want WiiU pretty bad, just waiting for a price drop.
Zelda: Wind Waker
NSMBU
NSLU
Hyrule Warriors
Mario Kart 8
DK: Tropical Freeze
There's the reasons to own it right there.
The controller is gimmicky but hey, at least I could play some games in bed when I can't sleep.
Been dropping hints to the wife I want one for our anniversary

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I think I'll have one by Christmas. I'll do it for the 3D Super Mario Bros cat game and Mario Kart 8. And at that point I'll get Shovel Knight. And I want Hyrule Warriors but that also makes me feel ashamed... not entirely sure why.
Splatoon gives off a happy-colorful-oil-derrick sort of de Blob vibe, which I'm definitely interested in. Oh this is good.. I thought Splatoon didn't have single player (just from videos) but read a bit from the devs and it sounds like there will be single player version.. so that's promising!

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I just ordered Bayonetta 1 + 2 but I'm going to wait on a price drop before picking the actual system up. Probably will buy W101 and Pikmin 3 soon too because they're cheap, but paying any less would just feel wrong so no point in waiting. There are close to 15 released-or-upcoming games I want for it, which is a pretty massive list for me in my more discriminating older years, though I am in honesty pretty 'Nintendo-sympathetic'. Little interest in the other consoles, but I fully expect that will change over time.

There's a christmas thread and it's not even fucking october yet. Gimme a break.
Though yeah, I have little interest in the other two consoles, and I already have a Wii U. Though I'll probably end up with a PS4 eventually because there's at least one game I know I want for it.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I've had it since april or may, but I've been loving mine though it only gets playtime about once a week, and it's usually mario kart. loved the wonderful 101 and super mario 3D world.. gonna snag hyrule warriors when I can afford it, and bayonetta 2 (if I can afford that after the evil within this month :$), while also looking forward to the devil's third, smash, pier solar and the great architects, etc..

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I bought one shortly after launch. Still haven't played it all that much, mostly because I stick to my PC for gaming. I think Mario Kart 8 is the game I've played the most on it. I'll probably pick up Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Brothers at some point though.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
yeah, because some people get consoles for christmas. I can get the wife to spend £200 on me at Christmas so this was on my potential wish lists. After looking at MK8 a bit more I wonder if any skill is required. People on youtube come first without much of a push and the tracks are wide enough for airplanes.Lord Satori wrote:There's a christmas thread and it's not even fucking october yet. Gimme a break.
Some nice links in this thread. That future racer looks amazing graphically.

Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I haven't considered a Wii U but after playing Smash demo on the 3DS I knew I had to get the Wii U for Smash Bros.
Looking at Xbox One and PS4 there is nothing I really want on those consoles right now and whatever that is coming out on those consoles are games that will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well.
Wii U has a few games I'd totally get like Mairo 3D World and a few others. Even if my main reason is to get it for Smash i think it'll be worth it just for that game. Not to mention I need my Zelda Fix as well...

Well, was wondering what pre Xmas releases on the Wii U were coming out. I'm fishing for information and getting my wife geared up for a potential purchase. Re: Wii U - On anyones Christmas shopping list?
I've been half-considering an Xbox One for a while now, but right now there's only a handful of games I'd be interested in (primarily the Forza games and Sunset Overdrive, I'd have Destiny on the list but I'm playing that on my 360 already) so ultimately I don't think I'll be in any hurry to get one. Maybe if there's a killer deal around Black Friday I might consider one, but even then it'll be a tough sell. There's even less I'm interested in on PS4, so I don't see myself getting one of those either.

I've been vowing to never buy a Nintendo home console, after N64.
But there's always SOME reason, I have to get one. GameCube: Resident Evil. Wii: Emulation and VC. Wii U: The Platinum games.
So, yeah, as soon as I get the money, I am getting one. Around December would be great. I'm already buying some games for it.
