Oniros just reminded me about an issue I checked into a bit ago. I know a few of you had asked about upgrading the Crimzon Clover soundtrack DLC to a higher bitrate or lossless FLAC, because the current version is a highly compressed 128kbps. Unfortunately we can't encode a new lossless version because the composer's hard drive crashed and the original files for the audio were lost. I think the compressed soundtrack is the best we can manage unless we can come up with a workaround somehow. Sorry to disappoint, I know some of you were looking forward to higher quality music.

How about adding an option to use your own music? A "music.cfg" file with file paths that can be configured in Notepad?

Code: Select all

<Stage 1>..\"STG music\ESPGALUDA II stage 2.flac"</Stage 1>

Etc.

There are companies that specialize in recovering data from crashed hard drives.

How is the sound in the game stored, is it using the same 128kbps files?

What are the chances of Crimzon Clover getting an arrange mode that's somewhere between Novice and Arcade difficulty, let's say around the doujin Original difficulty?

Also, are there any plans to release an alternate OST, similar in style to the FC remix of the first stage that is available on the doujin release?

Fabulous track, btw:

Sad news. Nevertheless, thanks for the response.

Hello everyone! The Humble Store is featuring Crimzon Clover in a shmup-themed bundle sale today (Sept 15th). If you've been waiting for a sale, it's a good opportunity to grab Crimzon Clover and a whole stack of great shmups for super cheap! The bundle starts at 2PM EST and runs for only 24 hours. Take a look here:

Yep, the DRM free version isn't ready yet. It won't be until the GOG version comes out.

Hey Blackbird. I just bought Crimzon Clover after discovering it on Humble Bundle, and I have to say this is a pure awesome shmup! Definitely on par with CAVE's best, I'm having a blast.

Sorry if this is not the best place to ask this, I have an annoying bug with it. I tried running the game on 3 beefy PCs, that should be way above the specs, and the frame rate never goes to a full 60, it seems to cap at 57 or 58 fps. While the gameplay itself is smooth, it makes all my scores "unofficial" because the frame rate is not 60. Is there any chance this can be passed on to dev and this bug looked into eventually? Let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks a lot!

The specs look strong enough to me. I'll pass along this info and see if I can't find a solution for you.

Encountered another bug where I couldn't select any game mode other than Original in arcade mode, even though all the other menus and controls worked fine. Restarting the application fixed it.

May I suggest a little something extra that could be nice ?

In training mode, (at least in Novice mode), it seems that the rank of the game is not accurate for let's say a no miss run. For example if I want to train on stage 5, it seems to me that bullets are slower than a game can actually be in a normal no miss full run. So it could be a good thing to add in the options of training to choose: rank no miss, rank miss, rank low, rank max, or something like this ?

I think the rank of Original is related to how many stars you have collected. Have you tried setting stars collected to several hundred thousand and entering training again?

Hmm yeah, but after couple of play, now I'm just wondering if I just not halucinate myself

Bullets seems faster on a normal run, but it might just be the feeling of the stress that makes it look like faster...

@ vld99: Did resetting the program fix the framerate issue like the other users, or are you still having framerate issues?

Sorry for the delay. I have just been able to test by restarting the computer, and the framerate issue was fixed! (I very rarely restart...)

Thanks for the help!

Also. You could ask them how hard it would be to rerender all the 3d assets and turn on internal antialiasing, because that would make the renders look so much better. The art is a noise city.

Are you certain that would improve the appearance of the game, ptoing? Yotsubane is such a meticulous developer, I feel like he would have enabled that if it would improve the sharpness that easily.

It's also possible he intentionally left the graphics pixelated so that they more closely resemble arcade games than a typical PC release. Just thinking aloud here.

I think the game looks fine as it is, with a nice grainy look and really sharp pixels. It's well possible that cleanly rendered images would make it look sterile, and there are way too many games like that available.

Sure, the graphics would look muuuch sharper, and I'm 99% sure that it has been yotsubane's design decision to leave the big pixels in. I understand the charm, but
still I'd be SUPER interested in seeing how high-resolution graphics would look in the game. Why hasn't anyone asked yotsubane about this in any interview? Blackbird? Could you possibly do it?
