The Sins Awakening - Full game for Windows

Post by Michard »

Hi everyone,
I'm here to post about my new bullet hell game,

The Sins Awakening

Image

The Sins Awakening is a heavily Touhou-inspired shooter which will take the player through 7 stages in order to seal the Seven Deadly Sins once again.

The game has quite a high difficulty level, so it is normal for new players to get not too far. Good players shouldn't find it too hard to clear it.

I'm really looking forward to any kind of feedback you can give me, so if you have any comments, I'd be glad to hear them, even (or rather especially) if they are critics.

You can download the game here. http://michard.itch.io/the-sins-awakening
There you will also find more information and screenshots.

Thank you for your time!

Fun! I think it's really well thought out. The patterns are kind of gimmicky sometimes, but I don't mind that, if anything it just makes the Touhou influence more apparent ^.^

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood for playing shmups, but I REALLY suck at it right now...

It kinda reminds me of other Touhou fangames like RoHL and Ougon, but I think it's better than either of those. The scoring system seems well thought-out, and the patterns are fair and don't use randomness~

Good job ^-^

Got a couple minor complaints, thought you might like to hear them.

I found Avarice's first attack to be really, really cheap. You often don't have enough time to react when bullets change direction...

The other thing I noticed is that you can still die from ramming bosses even during the cutscene after they've been defeated.

Hi Pteriforever,
I'm glad to know you're enjoying the game.

Greed (the official name of the third boss) 's first pattern is indeed quite gimmicky, but I don't think it's unfair: while it's true that the bullets change direction in a moment, they are also not too many, the timing is rhythmic and their movement follows that of the boss. Thanks to this the pattern can become nearly trivial once you know how to position yourself in a safe zone just before the direction change happens, so that you have the time to react to a non-random, predictable direction change.

I know about that, I just thought that if they have enough strength to keep on talking, they might as well "stab" the player if he gets too close. Of course, I know this is just my personal, a bit controversial opinion on the matter, and will consider changing it in future games if too many people think leaving it like this is plain bad.

Thank you again for the feedback!

Is there a replay function? (or a youtube vid coming soon?) I don't think I'll be able to finish this one.

This isn't a you problem, btw. I'm not complaining about the actual game.

Congratulations, Pteriforever, well done! Now that you've done it, if you have any particular comments on the game I'd really love to hear them.

Hi Lord Satori, unfortunately the game doesn't have a replay system. I'm working to get a playthrough video on Youtube as soon as possible.
