Caladrius at #40. This might have been it for physical releases on PS3. :(
Well, at least they tried. :(
I wish UFO localized this one too on PSN.

I feel like they chose kind of a bad time to release this. Same day as another very high profile arcade game (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) was a seriously bad idea.

Anyhow I can't see this getting localized, but at least it's both region free and easily acquired via the PSN. Anyone can buy JPSN cards online and have the game downloaded this very evening if they really wanted to play it.

The high score thread is making me feel like I'm the only person who bought this game on the forum... :(

Ordered Caladrius and bought Raiden IV. It's a shame I had to wait for UFO Interactive to release it due to MOSS and their addiction to region locking.

The bastards.

Anyway, seems pretty decent - stuck on the stage 3 boss at the moment, pretty sure I'm reaching his final form.

That boss can be rough when you are new and aren't sure what to do.

I can't give you any specifics since I don't know your character, but the main thing is speed killing the phases using your magic shots. Phase one you can mostly survive using the defensive S3. For phase two you need to know what to do. Typically you want to set your S2 right at the start and then move to the bottom center. Just tap dodge slowly right and then up to avoid the pentagram attack. The second attack can be dodged pretty reasonably even without S3, but make sure you kill the boss prior to the third attack, I've never survived that one.

For phase three just use the safespot. Initially Pick a side and kill off the mines while dodging the suicide spreads from the other side. The main thing here is not moving around much, pick a side and stay there.

After that the boss will move to the top right corner, fly up there with it and point blank him at the far right edge right under his arm. The ice will miss, just watch for the big shards and switch to a powerful weapon (like S3) to make sure you kill them before they get to your safespot. As before, try to kill the boss before it starts up into the third attack.

This strategy works for any mode/version, but there are more effective methods in Evolution mode that utilize the Evolution burst.

Nah, you're just one of the few who's any earthly good at it. ;) I like the game a lot from what I've played of it, but heaven knows I'm centuries away from doing anything with it (so up on the pile with pretty much everything I play it goes!).

Don't worry AC Seraph, I am pretty curious to see what kind of challenge this game can dish out. Just waiting for my copy... I may take some time though, as I'm juggling 3 other gaming endeavors right now (Batrider, Garegga and now I'm learning speedru of ghouls n ghosts)

I think he's talking about the Raiden IV stage 3 boss, since he doesn't have Blaze yet  .
Good advice though, it took me about a week to be able to beat the 3rd stage (of Caladrius) when I got the 360 version.

Looking over the credits of Caladrius Blaze revealed that the PS3 porting job was handled by a studio in Shanghai. Clearly, they were able to do a better job than Moss themselves would have, after the initial disaster that was Raiden IV Overkill with its numerous bugs.

According to Shanghai Riceman Technology Co. Ltd company news they started work on two games a year ago (2013-09-09) - so that would likely be Raiden IV Overkill and Caladrius Blaze.

Edit: Shanghai Riceman Technology Co. Ltd are also credited as "Porting Partners" in the Raiden IV Overkill credits.

I don't have the PS3 version yet but I doubt it if the 360 version is anything to go by. I'm guessing the days of 4:3 support for new releases are pretty much coming to an end if they're not over already, unless they're verts like Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst.

Caladrius arrived, I like this game, the level 2 boss final attack gives me trouble every time though - started to bomb it.

Worth getting, and remember - always buy physical if you can.

are you talking about the PS3 version? if so did you try setting your PS3 to 640x480?

The top score is with Fairy. If anyone wants to see this let me know.

Thanks for the vid, it's about time there was a decent Overkill video on Youtube. All the other video's up until this point have been total shit (playing on easy, more starting lives, using continues etc.).

Agreed! There really hasn't been anything else so far that shows a decent clear and gives some demos of the Overkill mechanic in action.

Glad you like it!

Caladrius Blaze just crashed on me. Has this happened to anyone else yet?

To be specific, I used the raiden laser in evolution mode during the third boss' scythe pattern when it happened.

It happened to me the first time I played it. I said no to installing it to the hdd and it crashed on the opening movie. Restarted, installed it and haven't had another crash yet.

Thanks for the heads up! Just went and bought it on a whim. I have to make sure I don't touch it for a while though because I'm certain it would make me stop playing Caladrius.

I have the game installed as well, so that's not the issue I'm afraid. :?

That's weird that you had a crash, but has it only happened that one time? I'm pretty sure I've put well over 40 hours into it at this point and I've never once had the game crash on me.

It's only happened this once so far, but I've only played for 5 to 6 hours.

I think it must have been a fluke. Given how much time I've spent with it I should have encountered it by now if it was a common issue.

I managed to snag Caladrius Blaze on sale recently and in the hype I've been revisiting Raiden IV. One thing though, is that I never 1cc'd the game in normal. Is that the requirement for unlocking free play? Playing with credits by myself is never an issue, but I was showing the game to my friend today and we got to the point where we couldn't play anymore and I was like -_-

Way way way late to the party here, but I was looking into Caladrius Blaze on PS3... and it's about £90 on play-asia! Is it worth that steep of a price? I've read some mixed opinions, and watched a few clumsy youtube reviews, but I'm still on the fence. Does it hold up in the long term?

Considering that it was part of the Instant Game Collection just a few months ago, and that a PS4 version is coming soon (AFAIK), I wouldn't buy it, unless you really want it.
It's slightly cheaper on the PS Store, if you don't mind a digital copy...

Oh awesome news on the PS4 port. It would be nice to add a shmup to my PS4 shelf, so I'll hold out for that version for now. Thanks for saving me on that one. I had it in my basket already on the site...
