STGWeekly @ TouhouCon recap
STGWeekly @ TouhouCon recap
Whoo boy,
First of all a great big thanks to Softdrink 117 and Joeybeta for all their technical wizardry/commentary/and skillful game playing. We had a lot of technical difficulties (you know, it's STGWeekly) but we worked through them to present a livestream, coordinate tournaments, put on a panel, and provide entertaining commentary.
Again, a big thanks to the community to coming out and playing in the tournaments as well as hanging out in the twitch.tv/touhoucon channel just hanging out.
Any questions/comments? They are always welcome.
Cheers,
F

Re: Help needed at TouhouCon Sep 20-21
So if it's on the 27th, why does the topic say 20-21?

It's the 20th-21st, Frenetic just made an error in the description.
Re: Help needed at TouhouCon Sep 20-21
And fixed! Thanks for catching that Lord Satori.

Just show this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE5vyLLrQQw
Really though, good idea and all, hope you can get someone to come out and help you with your event. Maybe you could succeed at attracting some sheep from the herd and turn them into the shmup enthusiasts of tomorrow

You don't need a reason to dodge things. http://www.liliumstg.blogspot.com/2015/ ... s-log.html

Glad to see STG Weekly reaching out like this. Hope you have a great time.
I hosted a few Touhou related panels at conventions last year (or rather, STG panels with a touch of Touhou so people would attend). It's always fun to watch people take notes when you explain certain mechanics.

I will help you out in spirit, since I am on the other side of the country >_<.

Thank you so much guys for your words of encouragement. Hopefully some people will step forward to join us in Gensokyo!

Aha, this is closer than UCI so I will definitely be going. I was the one who choked really hard at Futari God back in SCR. I can probably demo Normal/Hard Mode at TouhouCon if someone else isn't already doing Lunatic.
I have a few questions though,
- What are the hours for your panel?
- Are the games played on keyboard or stick?
- What other Touhou games will be present at the panel, and are you guys bringing other shooters as well? (secretly hoping for Twinkle Star Sprites here, having both it and PoFV will be glorious.)

Is there going to be a vid, like with the Anime convention?

Re: STGWeekly @ TouhouCon recap
Unfortunately we weren't able to record our panel. However, since our main responsibility at the convention was setting up and maintaining a livestream of all of the major gaming events, there are many hours of recorded footage viewable at twitch.tv/touhoucon. Check it out!
Main events include Phantasmagoria of Flower View, Hisoutensoku, and Hopeless Masquerade tournaments. We also had an opportunity to run an interview with From Soy Sauce, a doujin group which is currently developing a Super Smash Bros inspired fighting game using Touhou Project characters and locales. Their game is incredibly polished and was great fun to watch and play despite being in development for barely a month (and having only a single playable character and stage at the moment).
We were hoping to run some large scale public demos of various STG, but due to scheduling constraints and technical issues (namely two power outages) we weren't able to do so.
Overall, I would say the convention was a great success! We got some really great feedback both from staff and from viewers, and had a great experience ourselves despite the power outages and other crazy technical issues that kept popping up. We've already been invited back for TouhouCon 2015 and will be working closely with the event organizers to ensure things will go smoother next time.
Massive thanks to any shmups people who tuned in; I recognized a good number of names in the chat, but wasn't able to keep track of everything 100% of the time. Hope you guys enjoyed the show!
