Looking forward to watching trailers to games I will never play. Wasn’t thrilled about that FFXV trailer, too much night time gameplay, needs more flashlights. The animation and background art in GGXrd was amazing though.

EDF4.1? Really? I was hoping the EDF PS4 game was going to be EDF5, not another god damned remaster with some new content. I'm sure EDF5 is coming anyway, but this is disappointing even if the new kaiju and giant robot looked cool. I can't wait for that EDF2 Vita port, though.

FFXV looks pretty amazing to me. Great art, graphics, and animation with pure action combat. I'm sold as long as the Xbone version isn't terrible.

Bloodborne also looks great. It's going to be hard to resist buying a PS4 just to play one game. :(

i can't wait for bloodborne! just out of interest, what made you get a xbone iconoclast? I was hoping to not get a console this generation, but there are a few ps4 exclusives that will pretty much force me to get one.

I mainly got an Xbone to play Halo with my friends, but I'm also looking forward to playing Dead Rising 3, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, Sunset Overdrive, Natsuki Chronicles, and several multiplatform games. The multiplats will probably run or look better on the PS4, but that won't bother me unless there's a big difference between them (eg. Bayonetta).

I'll definitely get a PS4 after it builds up a few more exclusives, but as it is, I'm only interested in Bloodborne, Ys 8, and Persona 5 (and out of those, only Bloodborne is truly exclusive). That's partly why I'm disappointed in EDF4.1; if they would have shown EDF5 instead, I'd have a much easier time justifying another console.

If Bloodborne turns out like Demon's or Darks Souls 1, I will get a PS4.

I dunno, I'm actually kinda interested in FF XV - and this is from a guy who didn't find VII to be all that interesting. This trailer amuses me - I guess that's what happens when Square-Enix takes a stab at german car design

Guilty Gear looks better than I thought it would. Haven't kept up with the news since I'm perfectly happy with playing my old copy of GGXII but it seems they've gone to great lengths to retain the feel of the old games - impressive.

From really has that souls style down to a science even when remixing it with a vampire theme, I need to inject it into my veins.

It's got Western developers behind it, though, so temper your expectations.

Keep in mind that it's a game by Hajime Tabata, the dude who previously directed such (pardon me my coarse language) vapid shit as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, The 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy Type-0.

Haven't played or interested me much for those titles so XV have the chance to become my first Tabata-experience I guess :)
The modern day setting and what looks to be - finally! - non-turned based mechanic based battles do have me very interested, but my expectations are on a safe enough level I think. Basically thinking it would be cool if this could be the first non-MMO Final Fantasy game I could get into for a bit.

It looks interesting, but seriously I'm very angry it's not turned based. I like my final fantasies turn based. This should be a different IP.

GG:xrd is going to be amazing along with Bloodborne, FFXV looks like the same old same old and MGS:V reminds me of snake eater If theres one thing ive always liked about the mgs games its the musical score...the end boss theme to mgs3:snake eater still sends shivers down my spine when i listen to it.

The FF character designs are achieving whole new levels of ugliness I didn't think possible. I assume if you're not a cosplayer you can't play the games anymore.

This is impossible because Type-0 is not a turn-based turd for braindead troglodytes like the rest of the series.

Eh, the only JRPG I really get excited about is Persona. Final Fantasy is a little too cheesy nowadays, on a lot of levels. I can't really tell if they are serious or a parody of themselves any more.

It not be classy, but Z Kagura was an awesome game. The timing based combo system in these games is so damn addictive. I like sword fighting games in general, but I'm not kidding when I say I find OCB's system to be the most fun. It's too bad the west only got Vortex and Revolution, because Vortex was the worst in the entire series and Revolution was on Wii so no one played it (great game though).

Anyhow I'll be at TGS tomorrow, so I'll post some pics when I get back. The MGSV demo is high on my to-do list.

Yeah Type-0 was pretty fucking awesome actually, especially compared to Square's other recent output. I never understood why they never localised it.

yeah, per above, type-0 is considered one of the best games they've made in a long time. also, crisis core isn't particularly terrible, and the reaction to the 3rd birthday is a bit odd.

for the record, xv was going to be a spinoff. then they decided "we need a new main entry" (which xiv isn't) and... yeah.

FFXV sounded interesting to me at some point before we got the first couple of "gameplay" trailers.

It's obvious the Final Fantasy main series is pretty much dead. I mean, we just had someone say he only cares about the game because it's not Final Fantasy.

To a large extent I agree with this, though for someone with a sense of humor like mine that's not necessarily a bad thing: myself, despite a lengthy list of flaws I had a darn good time with Lightning Returns, in substantial part because of how ridiculous its core concept of "demigod descends from the heavens at the end of the world to run silly errands for folks" is. Somehow I never ceased to be amused when some random NPC would ask me to herd sheep or find a guy standing a five-second walk away and Lightning would respond "yeah, I'll do it" in that husky voice of hers: I could almost see her character model rolling its eyes. Lots of people would find such a setup totally unbearable, and I can't fault them for a second, but it took me quite a while to put it down...and as of earlier this week I'm now chuckling at the goofy little chibi-characters in Theatrhythm Curtain Call, heh.

Mostly by people who haven't played it and expect it to be the second coming when it finally hits the US and EU shores next year. The reception in Japan was tepid at best and if you check the Type-0 English Translation thread on Neo-Gaf, the impressions are generally negative too. I've played it to completion and I can't find a single redeeming quality about it outside of maybe the opening video which is decidedly pretty cool and makes you believe that you're in for something grand and epic(hah!). I think the unfortunate truth is that the quality and quantity of RPG output from Japan have fallen so sharply over the past decade or so that some of the not too choosy fans of the genre now cling to and praise even the obviously sub-standard productions like Type-0.

The PS2 games were also released in the west (EU only, I think), they are called Zombie Zone and Zombie Hunters and believe me, Vortex is waaaaay better than those PS2 games, lol. I like the Onechanbara franchise but I don't like it enough to pay high import prices... I need to buy a Wii one day and try Revolution.

Type-0 looks too much like it's been inspired by those shitty generic light novels with a military academy setting. Don't know how anyone can actually be excited for THAT.

The character designs of the game aren't as big a concern for me personally I'm actually more miffed at the combat, why they cant go back to turn based battles is beyond me.....

Most of the popular Final Fantasy games (IV-IX) had realtime combat. Just really shitty realtime combat that seems vaguely turn based.

Any move away from ATB is a good one.

I'm getting this entirely for the Yoko Shimomura soundtrack, and I think it will be worth it.
