No one knows, but it's likely if Klon is at all aware of their gaijin fans. Apparently it's much easier now to get 360 games certified as region-free in Japan than it was at the time of Mushi Futari's release. Also, all Xbox One games are region-free.

Only good 360 is a Japanese 360 imo, but I must say I'm a bit surprised given that the 360 is on its last legs nowadays, I thought in all probability it would be region free. Condolences.

That would probably reason enough for me to finally get a J 360, since I've got a few J releases already.

Can someone explain why it is such a problem for publishers to go region free? Are there certain restrictions/barriers they have to go through? I don't understand why any publisher would region lock a game when it is only released in one region. Does anyone have any info on this?

Probably M$ charges more for a region-free release.

Updated OP. Total bummer about this being region locked, though.

Even if that is true, it's a bit hard to swallow that Triangle Service managed two all-region releases while Klon "can't" - it smacks of "can't be bothered". Alternately, given the recent Raiden IV Overkill release, there may still be some backroom discussions with UFO about a possible Xbox Live GOD release - that would be a more practical reason for region-locking.

Milestone's games have been picked up for localization three times in the past. They might be hoping there's still a chance for this collection to have similar success.

If that's the case, they're foolish for thinking so. They've already had two planned US localizations that ended up being canceled: Radirgy on Gamecube (which would have been one of the very last US GC releases), and Illvelo on Wii. Milestone's games are not distinctive, polished, critically acclaimed, or marketable enough to be attractive to Western publishers, especially in an age where the STG genre is already flooded with mediocre and low-quality titles on mobile/PC platforms.

Also, it's unlikely that Klon would even agree to work with UFO a second time, after how badly the vaporware US release of Illvelo Wii was bungled.

On a more neutral note, I wonder if the Milestone logo items in Radirgy Noah will be maintained.

Would it matter to Klon? I imagine UFO paid for the license then declined to release - Klon would get their money either way, unless they were also getting a slice of the (small, budget-release) sales.

Well, I guess it's too much to ask that Klon would come to its senses in timely fashion and take a hint from the DoDonPachi Saidaioujou release.

There should be a new bonus stage where you fight to liberate the impoverished Vietnamese workers of Milestone Bio Energy.

Hahahahaha

I'll wait for a price drop. Now I will actually have a NTSC-J X360 but I'll try my hardest to not reward companies who willingly perpetuate region-locking.

In Karous, you have to collect all 5 hidden Milestone logos (one per stage) and kill the Stage 5 boss without a timeout to access the TLB. Continuing does not lock you out of it.

They will probably be changed to Sakura Flamingo flowers for this collection. Maybe Kiken can rehost those images showing the locations.

In regards to "New BGM by K.H.D.N.", has it been confirmed if it will be the tracks from Sakura Flamingo Audiography pink and grey or if it will be something different?

Thanks

They'll probably do the same for the MileStone logo in stage 5 of Radirgy as well.

If I can remember where I put those old images... might just have to do another 3 billion + point run and capture all their locations again (this time through a better video output).

i don't really understand how you can defend raiden iii and crimzon clover but despise milestone.

trying to say that milestone games aren't "distinctive" is insane, simple as that; they're some of the weirdest and most distinctive packages in the entirety of shmups. saying they aren't "polished" doesn't seem very fair when the kind of people you're talking about don't really care about game systems much, and when the ~HARDCORE~ tend to love them; stuff like that karous video is Like Whatever Man when that kind of stuff pops up in cave games all the time and people are fine with it. saying they aren't "critically acclaimed" or "marketable" is probably the craziest seeing as people hate ikaruga even today, seeing as there's nothing ikaruga really has that milestone games don't, and seeing as even chaosfield is slightly more marketable than ikaruga solely because it's slightly less "japanese" (which IS a point against it to the kind of people you're selling these games too). seriously, ikaruga's success is completely random; the odds were against it soooo hard, but now it's a unquestionable bandwagon forever.

oh, and milestone games have WAY better music than crimzon clover, and i actually like crimzon clover's music. daisuke nagata and kou hayashi pretty obviously have way more experience, simple as that.
