I heard that there was another Night at the Museum movie being done, and that he was supposed to take part in it. It's entirely possible that his part is already finished, if not, re-writing is probably going to happen.

Now do some research into why.
Because people feel the need to badger and hate on celebrities out of jealousy and spite.

Gimme a break. That comes with the territory.

Dissatisfaction is much more likely having it all and realising 'it all' ain't really so great. Nice house, big bank account: same stress, relationship problems, sense of unfulfilment, and 21st century mental health issues as everyone else.

Money can't buy you a positive mindset or healthy outlook - those things need to come from within.

I never meant that that was the only reason.

Iconic nemesis.

He was great in "Pale Rider" too. Turns to the side of good after Preacher whacks him in the balls with a sledgehammer then provides a gratefully accepted icepack.

It feels a bit weird. We won't have him trying to stop people from sharing his writings anymore, but we won't have him anymore either.

Dollree Mapp, of Mapp v. Ohio fame, died in October. Ms. Mapp became legal history in the late 50's when she successfully fought against the use of evidence obtained illegally by the police. From theNew York Times write up...
On May 23, 1957, three police officers arrived at a house in Cleveland and demanded to enter. They wanted to question a man about a recent bombing and believed he was hiding inside. A woman who lived there, Dollree Mapp, refused to admit them.

It was a small gesture of defiance that led to a landmark United States Supreme Court ruling on the limits of police power.

Ms. Mapp told the officers that she wanted to see a search warrant. They did not produce one. A few hours later, more officers arrived and forced their way into the house. Ms. Mapp called her lawyer and again asked to see a warrant. When one officer held up a piece of paper that he said was a warrant, Ms. Mapp snatched it and stuffed it into her blouse. The officer reached inside her clothing and snatched it back.

The officers handcuffed Ms. Mapp — they called her “belligerent” — and then searched her bedroom, where they paged through a photo album and personal papers. They also searched her young daughter’s room, the kitchen, a dining area and the basement.

They did not find the man they were looking for, but they did find what they said were sexually explicit materials — books and drawings that Ms. Mapp said had belonged to a previous boarder — and they arrested Ms. Mapp.
She was charged with obscenity and convicted. Her appeal made it to the Supreme Court where they ruled in her favor, effectively applying the exclusionary rule to all state courts.

I also found out that Kenneth Waltz, the seminal international relations theorist, died last year.
Feedback will set you free.

Christine Cavanaugh passed away. :(

Here's a bit from the release:

"If you grew up in the ‘90s, chances are you’re familiar with the work of legendary cartoon voice actress Christine Cavanaugh. The voice behind Babe the pig, Chuckie from The Rugrats, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, and Gosalyn Waddlemeyer-Mallard on Darkwing Duck passed away on Dec. 22 at the age of 51."

Back in the day, I watched Dexter's Lab about every day. This makes me sad.

Cruddy year for celeb deaths.

There's a name I recognized before I even saw the rest of your post; definitely a voice of my childhood. According to a write-up I saw elsewhere she'd retired from voice acting back in 2001, and no cause of death was listed...I wonder if she'd been ill.

Chikao Ōtsuka, Japanese voice actor who played among other things Tao Pai Pai in Dragon Ball, Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 4, a few roles as Wario and Ishikawa Goemon XIII in the first Lupin III anime, passed away last Thursday at 85 years of age.

He also seems to have been the go-to person to do Charles Bronson's roles in Japanese dubs, and also played the titular Dr. Strangelove in the Japanese TV version of the movie.

I think it would be worth mentioning he's the father of Akio Otsuka, Solid Snake's Japanese voice actor. May he rest in peace.

Shit, bummer. He was in there in the early years, right? I have Phaedra and Rubicon here on vinyl. Will give them a spin I suppose.

On a side note a friend of mine handled him in Tokyo when he was touring one year, and was apparently a huge asshole. Or was it Klaus Shultz?
