I'm not going to talk into my watch for phone calls. I'm not going to wear a Bluetooth headset. So now that it is clear that I still need my phone, why would I want to have another device? So I can look down at my watch and save 5 seconds?

From someone whos owned the galaxy gear from day 1 (the original version not the new one) I will just say "Smart" watches are quite a nice idea however they are really quite overpriced and the gimmick wears off after a while. I still only wear mine when I'm going to a function or someplace where I know it wont get scratched or damaged it does also make random people ask you whats so special about it however my phone does everything alot better and for those of us who have strict management in place at work it can be a useful tool.

Yeah I don't really see the appeal of this. The iPhone already does everything that watch does. And the fact it requires an iPhone to work makes it redundant.

I have a coworker who owns a SmartWatch. For him I think it's mainly a showy bauble not unlike a tie clip. Although he's active in the stock market, and I guess that the watch saves him precious seconds from fishing the phone out of his pocket and clicking on a stock ticker app. If you have a job where you're constantly getting updates/messages, I can maybe kinda sorta see the appeal. Still a goddamn waste of money. But then I don't yet get why people even get tablets.

That being said, playing Gradius on your wrist would have a certain Star Trek appeal.

Pointing out that it's sorta hypocritical to do the exact same thing with someone elses quote to make a point.

if Apple watches are as terrible as their phones, tables, laptops and TV devices I don't think I would use a Apple Watch even if you paid me for it.

Only thing Apple doesn't fail entirely at is displays.

I personally don't see anything special about this. They're not doing a good job of convincing me that I need it - looking or talking to a device that replicates my phone functions (and needs my phone) on a smaller screen and needs charging daily. How is this helping my life?

It almost looks like these devices are just being made to create additional problems that don't need to exist.

Then again, I said the same thing about the silly iPad, and look how that turned out.
