Scart box powering up both SNES and megadrive

I have my SNES and mega drive with RGB scart cables running into a scart switching box

the switching box then goes to an RBG scart to BNC RBG convertor

Unfortuntately, when I switch either the SNES or the MD on, both of the systems switch on, even if one of them is switched off, even if the DC jack is pulled from one of them. How is this happening? The SNES powers the MD and vice versa, through the actual video output?

The SCART "switch" you got is not suited for consoles. It does not only transmit the SCART signal to the TV, but also to the other consoles. There are power lines in a SCART cable, so this can lead to lit up LEDs of other consoles.

Did you read anything else on my website or on this forum about SCART switches?

Lots of things have physical switches, I can 99.9% guarantee you it's junk though.
