Ever since online RPG comes out.

TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:Nah...no steering wheels for me. I never thought they worked with a game well enough to warrent a purchase. Plus, most wheels have too much play in em. I'd rather use the original PS2 Dual Shock for racing anyday.
IMO Playing racing game without the wheels is like playing Virtual On without the Twin Stick control. (i.e. It's stuck)

Yes, you are right about the high cost of a proper home set up, and it still not perfact even with such an high cost. That's why I won't play racer at home. (I haven't get very deep into it anyway.)

On the other hand, setting up a shmups properly at home cost $$$ too. An acrade carbit; 29" Low Res monitor in Tate; Sanwa/Simetsu sitcks and buttons. The whole setup could cost around $1,000. :? And many on us here even got more than one carbint ...

I guess you are just not hardcore enough in Racer to buy yourself such a setup.

Nah, I take my racing games just as serious as any other; shmup,FPS,etc.
Its just that I can perform/drive perfectly fine with the original controllers.
If I feel the need for a racing wheel...I'll just drive my '68 Chevelle! 8)

Side note:
The steering wheel in my car is a "Grant GT". These are the very same wheels that the video game "GT" one's are designed after.

As far as shmups go...well, I do have an X-Arcade dual modded with Happ parts (competition joysticks and buttons) The whole thing is mounted to a removable computer desk shelf. ANyway, the whole setup won't move unless two players are really pounding away with a Street Fighter type game.

No cabs for me as I'm too poor. Would love to have at least a couple though...A 4 slot Neo Geo and a dedicated vert would be nice(blue Namco/ Excellena?)

Me too... :( I don't own a cab not because I cann't afford it.

It just I don't have room for it, spaces in your houses cost even more $$$ than a cab...

I guess cannot afford a house big enoguh to hold a cab has the same meaning as cannot afford to have a cab.

May be I should move to live on a more remote island, so that I could have a bigger house... (really considering the idea seriously...)

Yup, already got the game (PS2 version but whatever). Very smooth driving but it's the furthest thing from an "arcade racer" and having only the F355 to drive, while a treat, gets a bit boring.
