Hip Hop legends

Post by Obiwantje »

Well - to go WAY offtopic.

The other day I came across the http://www.hiphoplegends.com/ site - I have been eying the touring schedule ever since - I'd love to see Eric B and Rakim at least 1 time in a concert type setting - such fun memories hearing their tunes while playing some arcade games !

Anyone seen their shows? What did you think?

I think that would be a cool show. DMX is also on the tour list, and I saw him once about fifteen years ago. The lights were off and you could hear ominous growling. The lights come on, and DMX runs out with a tank top. The growl turns into a bark. He rips his tank top off and throws it into the crowd. I witnessed a crowd of girls fighting over the shirt. It was a nice start to a fantastic performance.

Rakim has a laid back demeanor. I imagine he has only gotten better with age. Now, I must come up with a plan to go. Wait a minute, what is this.

Thinkin of a master plan
Cuz ain't nothin but sweat inside of my hand
So I dig into my pocket, all my money is spent
So I dig deeper but still coming up with lint

Looks like I will be staying home. :(

Ja Rule? wow.

I was once a massive hip-hop head--thousands of cds / records, but hip hop in general is terrible live outside of DJs or battles.

These dudes are also super crusty now and largely irrelevant and haven't had any good material in a decade(s?).

Their early albums are undeniable classics but I would much rather throw a copy on the turntable than listen to their 50 year old selves perform them live.

I don't know about this lineup. I guess I've already seen the ones that matter to me, De La Soul, Wu-Tang Clan, Common and Snoop Dogg. I'd love to see Pharoahe Monch, he was gonna play a festival I was at, but had to cancel. :( Oh, and Method Man/Redman would be epic as well.

Method Man and Redman were at the same concert I refererenced earlier. They came out on bungie cords suspended over the crowd. It was awesome.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, any gig is only as good as the performer. I've been to plenty of good hip-hop gigs.
