Nintendo Wii RGB SCART

Post by nyder »

I really want a Wii RGB scart lead to do some comparisons to the component on my PVM-20l5.

Anyone know a source for a decent one, doesn't appear any of the well known cable makers bother with the Wii.

Tried ordering a cheap on off a buyiincoins on ebay but it never showed up.

Thanks in advance,

I could be wrong but I believe the Wii like the Gamecube doesn't support scart except in Europe. For the Gamecube (and perhaps the Wii too) it's possible to have a cable handmade using expensive components from Japanese Gamecube cables but it's going to very expensive.

I picked up a PAL Wii a few weeks back at a flea market for $4 so I'm good for SCART!

That's certainly a monitor where I wouldn't think much about RGB on the Wii...

Nintendo made an official RGB cable for the Wii, and unlike the Gamecube one prices aren't out of this world either.

I'm not interested in wii games.

But the emulators on the Wii are pretty impressive, Snes, NES,Genesis,PC Engine, CPS1,CPS2, Neo Geo All look spectacular via component in SD. Curious if the colours will be better with RGB Scart.

In that case get the official lead, I do think the colors are better with RGB. I only have a Wii2HDMI as reference point, but the component captures from the Wii I've seen look a bit dull as well.

Thanks, found a used one in good condition on Ebay, got it for 14 quid. More than I paid for both my Wii's but thats life in the RGB world.

As it is I'm stunned by the picture I am receiving via component . When I have CPS1 games running in their native resolution on the PVM my jaw dropped, I can't imagine it looking better but maybe it wil. :P

Thanks!

The emulators on the Wii look great, but their performance is garbage. You get a huge amount of input delay and last time I tried it they couldn't keep up with a steady 60fps on more demanding stuff. Retroarch is maybe still acceptable on a CRT, but stuff like Snes9x GX is just bad :(

RGB is better than component for me on the Wii, but when I looked at the ebay component cable it isn't mini coax like you'd expect, it was just regular wire, it was noisy on my plasma. I got my official Wii scart on ebay for about £12, supposedly a UK seller but the item actually came from Greece. I don't know how good the Official component cable is, I heard they are quite pricey.

I haven't noticed any issues of lag etc, only ran the Wii stuyff on CRT
s.

I reccently obtained a Coregrafx and ran it alongside each other on my PVM's, the wii looked better and with no lag. (Coregrafx via composite of course).

Regardless, I have most of the original hardware for the emulated wii stuff but it is fun experimenting/comparing.

I have 2 official nintendo component cables, they seem to work fine, look like any other component cable.

I find them all the time for peanuts around here (thrift stores, flea markets, craigslist) etc.

I hope this cable is worth all the fuss, will be interesting to see the results.

The lag is really only blatantly obvious if VSync is switched on, in my experience. But if it's not switched on the screen tearing can become horrendous at times.

I can notice some lag on Genesis plus GX, but if you use Wii Mednafen or Retroarch Wii there doesn't seem to be any lag. And the component cable was a cheap ebay one, that's why the wire wasn't coaxial, they had the cheek to stick a plastic fake ferrite core on it too!
