HALP - Dead XRGB3

Post by KoroKoro »

Hi guys.

I have had this XRGB3 for quite a few years now. Since maybe 2009 or 2010... but to be honest, I have hardly used it because I could never get picture settings right and it looked terrible. After I thought I was getting the hang of it, one of the RGB ports stopped working. D in 2 to be exact, so I thought I would try the game in scart connection. And it worked for a little while, then I got the same problem. Mainly black screen, with a couple of pixels showed to be red green and/or blue.

I stumbled on this thread here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... start=3390

And have found that some people have had faulty ICs, which for me would be the Panasonic AN15865AA the video switch IC. Now I am sure I did not blow it up with bad wiring on my behalf as it was on the Sega Saturn which to my knowledge doesn't require resistors/caps on the RGB lines or a c sync booster.

Unfortunately, I shouldn't have given up 4 years ago when I first got this problem, but I just didn't have time for sending it back through warranty as my Japanese isn't the best... but if I have to, I can. Time consuming though.

So I was just wondering if any of you guys still have these chips floating around? It would be such a shame to bin this $500 piece of hardware that has had extremely little use.
