STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark)
Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
How do I upload my score to the Online Leaderboards? I played a credit and my score is nowhere to be seen :/ . It takes a while to appear or I'm missing something?
Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
I'm not 100% on this, but I managed to get my score uploaded when I got a game over and accidentally hit view/upload high score after inputting my name. I can't remember the details.
Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
That's what I did, I tried again and it doesn't appear
. You didn't do anything else when you got to the website? I even deactivated my antivirus to see if that was interfering but no luck.

I'm in the same boat as BulletMagnet, updated Java with that link and the game refuses to boot. If I can't get the game running on this system by weeks end I'll drop from the tourney.
Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
We might have to ask mice about that since even I'm not sure what I did to get my score uploaded. All I know was that it was along the lines of constantly going to the view/upload high score thing, be it either in the high score menu or going to view/upload literally after you are done inputting your name without going to the main menu(which I think was the case for me). Until I noticed that my score was on there, I was using a camera just to have records of my high score. Sorry if my memory is blurry since it was around 7 or 8 for me when I noticed.Nwodatek wrote:That's what I did, I tried again and it doesn't appear. Whooohoo, no, this has nothing to do with the organizers, it's YOU who vote for the wrong games!nasty_wolverine wrote:Run a tourney yourself and see how hard it is. otherwise, go away.Lord Satori wrote: You'd think they'd take that into account... ..and now we can just wait for a score thread ^^...

If you installed Java and can't run it with .bat files, check this:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml
Actually this seems to have become mandatory for command-line Java. I'm reading that Java installation doesn't do it for you anymore for bugger knows what reason.
You should, though, be able to at least run at default resolution (1280x720) by double-clicking TwinTigerShark.jar. If not...well Java installation's even more fucked than I thought.

Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
Okay, things have been going on.
A thing that apparently happened was that one team sent a PM wanting to change their vote. This changed vote would have made the final result not a tie, but I'm not saying in which way. The problem with this was that it was sent only to nasty_wolverine, not me, and I'm the one who actually handles the votes. So we've decided that we're not counting that changed vote.
The other small issue we seem to be having is people having problems with TTS.
So I'm king of wondering: Can anyone actually reproduce that bug tinotormed got, and more importantly, how many of you can't even get the game to run?
We're currently discussing switching the game, so I kinda want to know if that's actually a necessary thing to do to make this week go smooth.

Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
Hmm, that's odd. I've definitely been able to run TTS in the past, but I just tried starting it now and it's giving me error messages. Something like this:
EDIT: Got it working again. Needed to: right-click My Computer > Advanced System Settings > Environmental Variables > System Variables, then scroll down to the line that says 'Path' and Edit it to include C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin. Might be in a different folder if you're using Vista or XP.
Maybe something got changed in a recent java update that means it won't run now? I'm using Windows 7, by the way.C:\Users\...\TTS_140812-2>java -jar TwinTigerShark.jar
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Anyone with this problem, try this launcher that I made with Launch4j:DocHauser wrote:Hmm, that's odd. I've definitely been able to run TTS in the past, but I just tried starting it now and it's giving me error messages. Something like this:

Drop it in the game folder and run with it.
If you wanna still use .bat files, open them and replace "java -jar TwinTigerShark.jar" with "TwinTigerSharkLauncher.exe".
Edit: Updated with fix for error:
Edit2: Correct .bat file text to replace. The application was configured to use a bundled Java Runtime Environment but the runtime is missing or corrupted

Thanks! I edited the previous post to include another way to fix it, just in case anyone needs it...

Re: STGT Gaiden - Week 3 discussion thread (Twin Tiger Shark
Already asked the game's author in the development thread to do something about this.KennyMan666 wrote:Can anyone actually reproduce that bug tinotormed got, and more importantly, how many of you can't even get the game to run?
EDIT:
Almost not necessary because it seemed that almost everything worked fine for me as I completed the game on it's 1st loop. Also, mice's own scoreboard on this website seems to be working on me either.KennyMan666 wrote:We're currently discussing switching the game, so I kinda want to know if that's actually a necessary thing to do to make this week go smooth.

Not exactly sure how, but I managed to get the thing up and running: I DLed Iori's launcher and couldn't get it to run, but for the heck of it I tried the .jar file (which I thought was supposed to be for Mac users?) and got the game to boot. I can't mess with the resolution, but methinks I'll deal with it, heh. Thanks to all who lent a hand.

Yeah, we're sticking with TTS for this week. Score thread by nasty whenever he wakes up/comes home/is revived/sees my PM/all of the above.

Urkh, I misconfigured it due to a misunderstanding.*BulletMagnet wrote:I DLed Iori's launcher and couldn't get it to run
Updated so it should properly search for Java now.
*Tech: I thought the output exe would have Java embedded in it, but Launch4j doesn't do that. Rather the exe ended up expecting Java to be at the specific path that it is on my PC.

Can confirm that the launcher works after the re-upload: I also got the game to work via the .bat files after editing them as you suggested, but the "not recognized" message still popped up before the game launched, and the resolution wasn't affected. Weird, but no big deal.
