How to capture HD TV upscaling?

Post by Floob »

I'm wondering how I would go about capturing how an HD TV upscales video?
I want to capture how it displays a 240p input from a RGB Scart signal going into it.

I have an XRGB mini which I could use to capture (with Elgato or similar) how that upscales, but to show how the TV does it natively would I literally need to use an external camcorder?

I'm not sure what you're asking. How else could you show how a TV scales other than taking a picture of it? If you feed the 240p signal into something else then it depends entirely how the device processes it and could be totally different from what your TV does.

Yep - that makes sense.
I guess for some reason I was thinking I saw some examples on Youtube of badly upscaled video on an HD TV.
But I guess they just had a very stable, well focussed external camcorder style device.

Wonder if my iPhone is up to it......
